It's too big 625
I mean I've been asking myself whether it's the worst thing in the world if Conte stays. I genuinely don't know at the moment.

I genuinely don't know at the moment. Its not the worst thing because he is a bloody good manager. It's more how would some of the squad react? And will we get the constant bickering again re. the board and transfers? At the present time i think he stays, pre-season is tomorrow. I just cannot see a point where change is made now sainttourist

I just cannot see a point where change is made now It's getting to the stage where him staying would be the better option (thinking short-term i.e. next season) I said this before but if Sarri comes in mid way through pre-season, no way are we just suddenly going to click in to a possession based team and challenge for the title. Fernando 6,592
Well looks like Conte stays. Have no problem with that. We might do much better this season. Dimitr, Adnane, Tautvix and 1 other
Dimitr 488
I wanted so much to appoint sarri and play some beautiful football but we must go on.And sign new players . But what players we can sign with conte on the bench?
dreamcfc 182
Realistically I'm thinking it will be Golovin in to partner Kante and then replacing whoever leaves, definitely Willian and possibly Courtois. Also some of the mistakes from last year, drinkwater etc? Let's just hope we don't downgrade any of the players that go out.

The answer is there's no time to panic because ultimately what difference will it make? The outcome will remain the same whether you wet the bed over it or not mate. Just seen some serious hysteria on here of late and find it quite amusing/daft! Not trying to be Billy big bollox about it just see no sense in getting so worked up over all the nonsense that's touted about. Dimitr 488
Really impressed with Sarri in this entire saga. Most other managers would’ve said ‘fuck it’ and went on holiday for a year while getting paid. Goes to show how much he wants the Chelsea job. Being a fan, we're entitled to worry and post here about it - we all want positive news to be fair, the club is at fault for allowing this to happen - while I agree there is a lot of nonsense that gullible people are buying in to, half of it doesn't make any sense and is just click bait... but what is clear, the club need to either back Conte or get rid of him and most of this speculation would be put to bed. Pizy 18,989
Not only may recruitment take a major hit if Conte stays, but we may also see Hazard asking to leave. Or worse, we keep him without him signing a new contract and face the scenario in which we sell him for a quarter of his worth when his contract runs down. Could you imagine us almost being forced to sell him to City or United because he's only got a year left on his contract? Basically pull an Alexis or RvP. Fuck me. As for recruitment, what top player is going to sign for us knowing one poor run of results could see Conte sacked? It's not like Conte can personally speak to prospective signings and convince them of the "project" he wants to build because everyone in world football will know that he's only still in his job because we'd have failed to get Sarri. I've said before that the only way Conte can surprise everyone and turn things around is if the club back him with about 4-5 top signings. And I cannot see them doing that. 11Drogba

Lets be honest, as idiotic as some of the board are this would never happen. The club is notoriously difficult to negotiate with, 1 year or not left on their deals we'd get a good fee. The club has shown one thing in the past and that is the ability to wrangle money from other clubs. We will never do what Arsenal do. I mean we convinced PSG to sign a squad player for 50m about 4 years ago. Its just the other thing we struggle with, recruiting quality players at premium prices. And if Eden runs his contract all the way down and joins City on a free? I'd like to think Chelsea means enough to him that he wouldn't ever play for another PL side, but you never know.
