People's dream the Xg Italian merchant De Zerbi  is only downgrade from Bottlechino anyway . He is not valued much even by  Capello. But because PR is leading around the club, all these coaches are advertised as top .

'''What have you won?!' - Roberto De Zerbi labelled a 'third tier' coach as Fabio Capello''

I want a manager like De Zerbi because we've got a crop of young players who don't know how to play together, most of whom are not very intelligent or experienced footballers. This is the result of the recruitment and it is what it is. It is much cheaper and realistic to get a manager like De Zerbi or Sarri to train them in a system they can follow than rebuild the whole squad. I think it will get us back to top 4 which is all we can hope for in the next few years.

I’m not all in for De Zerbi but looking at trophies from past is very narrow way to look at things. He is relatively young coach and haven’t had oppurtunity to win trophies yet. And it’s not all that matters. Gasperino has just won his first throphy, still everyone is aware(hopefully) how great job he’s been doing. Or how about Bielsa? He won the Champo and some shit in Argentina 30 years ago, still everyone claims he is a great football mind.

If we do trophy count, then obviously Mourinho is the right choice.

(who won CL with Porto exactly 20 years ago Today)

Exactly.

Just like the modern working world - some people are granted opportunities and others aren't. Narrative, bureaucracy and right place-right time all play a part in things.

I had tech sales people with 10+ years experience in my team earning $200k+, who didn't know half as much, or have a structure as good as the guy I got off the physical sales side who was earning 3 times less prior.

Like Gasperino said - he isn't any better or worse having won the trophy recently than he was the day before.

De Zerbi is lauded in a lot of circles. Guy clearly knows what he is doing, and has a particular way to play football. He came 6th the year before with not even half at disposal of what we have. Pretty much identical points.

I'm thinking it is De Zerbi. Just putting the pieces together.

Cucu, Colwill and Caceido all played under him at Brighton. He was the one getting the best out of Mudryk at Shaktar.

Plays the possession heavy, attacking style that owners want.

Is the coach lauded for his ability to work with younger players.

I love our club but for the first time , I really don’t care who the next manager is. We sack a manager who was making real progress and keep on Sporting Directors who signed Fofana,Lavia , Mudryk, Stirling ,Badiashille and Sanchez and I could go on, at inflated prices and long contracts.

We can want who we like but nobody with any experience will come to a club where they get no say and 12 months to win the Premiership - and if they don’t it’s the boot !!
I think it’s all just very sad

Lets not forget that the progress he made was just the sort of form that we would have probably had all season if he had not almost maliciously abused the squad, playing players in ridiculous positions and doing 0 tactical/strategic training and just asking the lads to play with passion, as well as flogging the shit out of them in training and simultaneously failing to get anybody into any kind of fitness until the end of the season.

He was an improvement on Lampard but a downgrade on Potter.

What he was good at was being nice to the players, that is clear - they loved him. He was good at hosting BBQs. He was mostly not bad in front of the press, but he failed to establish any relationship with the fans.

How low are our standards if we're saying Poch was making real progress, it is sad what we have become.

I for one have written to the club ( which I have never done before ) expressing my feelings re letting Poch walk away + the waste of money spent on players who were injury prone before we signed them or were just bad signings.

I don’t expect a reply ( and haven’t got one !!) and I don’t expect it to make any future difference. I just think the club should know how many supporters feel right now.

I’ll be genuinely excited if it’s De Zerbi. If he can get our players playing exactly as he had Brighton playing in terms of patterns, comfort on he ball, popping it around quickly, and completely dominating possession then I think we can take off to a new level. This is the sort of football a club of our size should be playing and a style players enjoy. Not counter attacking and “improv football/wait for a star player to create a moment of magic.”

know a lot of our fans are down on him after a poor season but the context is key. Losing his two best midfielders in the same summer is often forgotten.

Are you serious ???? Not one player improved under Potter. A number of players improved under Poch and I think he would have got us Top 4 next season

Completely agree.

Even when we were a dominant force in Europe, there were times where we bended to our opposition and played super defensively - under Mou as an example.

I want to see us be the hammer damn near all the time. Be fluid and malleable - able to adjust - but do it in a somewhat structured and rigid manner, within our system.

The more you have of the ball - the less the opponent has to be able to create something and score.

It's clear that Clearlake want a yes-man in charge, namely someone that aligns with their vision of squad-building, and long-term plans for the club.

Given all that, would DeZerbi be the right choice for this group? He did fall out with the Brighton ownership.

Maybe he won't necessarily run into the same problems he ran into at Brighton, but he has far from a meek-mannered individual like Potter.
