Joined halfway through the season when the one and only Tuchel left them in 3rd, and then won the league comfortably the following season.

I think the “one and only Tuchel” as you put it was only 1 point off of Lyon when they sacked him. And had lost 3 or 4 games in the league. Funnily enough Poch lost 4 games and finished 1 point behind Lille that first season so cant exactly use that to beat Tuchel with and not Poch. Second season was better but the recruitment was unbelievable on paper so not like they weren’t going to improve. But yeah their first half of the first season was no worse than 2nd half that year really. Tuchel was more sacked for falling out with Leonardo than results by the looks of things, who PSG soon replaced also with Campos that summer. Poch had a superior PSG team that second season but his record is still not as good as Tuchel’s.

I feel he’s probably better at working with developing/younger squads though like he did at Southampton & Spurs so he suits the bill here for Boehly. Less ego’s, less authoritative players or guys who have done it all before so maybe that buys him more sway in the dressing room - where as at Paris he clearly didn’t have the capacity to deal with the likes of huge personalities and players such as Messi, Neymar, Mbappe, Ramos, Verratti etc - although thats a lot of big big personalities and it probably can be toxic (but I do think Tuchel would excell with the current PSG squad though because he isn’t afraid of hurting feelings and these bigger elite level mentality players, they can take it).

But that will only take him so far - he has to eventually back it up by winning trophies here if he comes in to prove his methods are worth it or he will end up like he did at Spurs.

I personally think psg would be a disaster for most people to manage. They appear from the outside to someone who watches very little of them to be a selection of stars but not a team. A lot of egos and cliques. I think it's fairly difficult to judge anyone on spells at Paris

Particularly when you are asked to fine tune a defensive game when your attack consists of Mbappe, Neymar, and Messi.

Tracking back and pressing is Chinese to them.

Honestly think Poch would be good, but would also have been ok with Enrique. If Carlo wants round 2 that would also be fine with me. Other than that no one super interests me. Definitely not Jose. I’d probably take another couple of years of Conte though, which I know most will disagree with.

Tuchel is having a rough go at Bayern. Maybe the problem wasn’t Nags.

Bayerns recruitment and losing the likes of Lewa and Thiago has been a big issue. Muisala is a huge talent but he cant do it all by himself in attack either.

Bayern's recruitment was fine, they wanted another attacker, they got Mane.  They wanted another quality player, they got Cancelo from Man City.  They needed another CB, they got De Ligt from Juventus.

Their attack without Lewa is still better than anyone in the Bundesliga (Sane, Gnabry, Muller, Mane, Musiala, Coman), they're just not clicking as a team.

For once, it is refreshing to see Bayern Munich not walk the league, they could of easily kept Nagelsmann but decided that Tuchel would lift the UCL Trophy with them and Pep made them look bang average.

Don’t understand why we hired Potter instead of Poch, if we were going to hire him anyway. What did they see in Potter that made him a better choice?  What is the reason they want him now?

Was Pochettino available at that point in time?    From memory the club wanted to follow a new strategy and they decided to back Potter in....I don't think anyone expected him to fail that badly to a point where players actually looked lost on the pitch not knowing what to do.

If that was Roman in charge, he very likely would have been told to go in January to at least give a new manager the chance to work with the players and build something (like what Emery has done with Villa).

I don’t think there was any sensible process with Potter. They just had heard good things about him and saw Brighton performing extraordinarily well at the time and said if we add that level of ability to raise a squad above their level to an actually good squad we will be amazing, but then we were shit because what works for small clubs is not the same as what works for big clubs in general.

I also think the club were forced into firing Tuchel for reasons that are not public, but rumoured to involve him being a massive coke head and banging young members of staff. They then did a panic appointment. This time they’ve learnt from that and are doing a proper process, led by footballing people who were not here back then.

What it does show is that Boehly does not know shit about football and should never have been involved so much and our previous staff (Marina etc) should have been kept on until we had new directors in place.

These players are enough to drive anyone to drink or drugs

Pochettino's been out of a job since the end of 2021/22 season so yeah he would have been available in September 2022.

From what I remember I'm pretty sure he was even interviewed for the job after Tuchel got sacked but the club hired Potter instead.

That's true.

"Brighton's Graham Potter, former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino and ex-Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane are top of Chelsea's shortlist to replace Tuchel, sources told ESPN".

I remember being on my knees, praying for the naming of Potter. How the tables have turned...
