That’s what I’m worried about. Few positive results, few more goals scored, and then the match going supporters influence a naive owner into giving him the job long term.

I could see the logic in the short term maybe.

Lampard's express yourself ball worked quite well while Sarri's training was still in the muscle memory of the players. For all of Potter's faults he had us defending well on the whole and we were starting to see some really good build up play in the first 2/3rd so hopefully we may see a similar sweetspot now. They'll probably still be some bits of Tuchel's training still there too so even better.

The problem is if he does have a succesful interim spell the crowd will pressure the board into making him permanent and I wouldn't be surprised if they do it, so when the inevitable 'muscle memory' from previous coaching wades off and we start playing like Stoke again (like we did post lockdown) we're back to the exact same problems of early 2021, with a toxic split fanbase of one's who can let sentiment go vs one's that can't and probably a section of the fanbase who can't or won't warm to the new boss because he's not Frank.

The players clearly didn't want Potter anymore, while Bruno as a Chelsea manager against Real Madrid is a joke, to be fair.

The more I think about it, the more sense it makes for Lampard too. Because his image is at an all-time low.

This could be a good opportunity for him to enter the summer market in a more positive light.

As per the club, if Enrique and Nagelsmann refused to take over now and they were the main targets for us, this seems to be the right call.

What really matters is the fact that it is mandatory for the board to get the summer appointment spot on.

Good for him and for us. But what would "a good job" even mean? Getting some results?

That wouldn't matter anyways.

Winning the UCL? Impossible.

From my point of view, I hope we smash Arsenal and their title challenge.

Really good post.

I think people grossly underestimate Sarri's importance and the impact he had on Lampards first season.
He actually got a bunch of wooden legs players to play fantastic football at times and this in just one season.

At the time I tried to convince myself it was signs Lampard had potential as a great coach but given how the football turned to shit post lockdown it was clearly true.

What are they even doing?

We won't have anyone better available in the summer than we have now, except for PSG and Real looking for managers by the time. Pep is not coming here, so what's the deal? Appoint Lampard to lose more games while Pat & Mat are on to "exhaustive search" of another Potter-like abomination of appointment, but even more miserable? Fuck me.

That is a weird assumption.

Hell, some of the managers 'available now', might not even want to join mid season. Wouldn't surprise if Nagelsmann wants to wait.

Laughing stock😂

Enrique wants the job, why not give it to him?

Why give it to him, if they're not convinced?

What if he prefers to start a fresh in the summer?

Kind of like Hiddink taking over.

If the new manager was ready to take over we should have given it to them.

But if they wanted to wait till summer then fair game in getting a short term manager.

Except Lampard ain't no Hiddink.

Both want to come now, it's just the owners fucking around again.
