Adama was often double covered last season.

On a team like ours, you cant accomplish that because you leave Werner, Pulisic, and all the other speed demons loose.

Yes, many flaws are present, but someone with those physical attributes would thrive in limited time or a WB role. Open matches up completely using pace and physicality.

Spending £30m+ on whim just isn't smart business. I would rather keep the options we have and strengthen in areas we are severely lacking.

Why is it a whim? Reports from even those like Matt Law suggest that Tuchel wants him for the RWB position. Tuchel tried James, Azpi and CHO in that RWB role and doesn't seem to be satisfied with them especially when playing low blocks. Adama's posted good numbers in 2019-20 and his pace, dribbling is different and direct compared to what we have on the squad. RJ and Adama for RWB and RJ and Azpi for RCB is solid cover.

At least it looks like more of our players then maybe anticipated are having shorter Euro campaigns, especially with another 3 going out tonight regardless of the England - Germany result.

Can only be a big positive for Tuchel to get more of the core squad back as soon as possible for pre season.

I can't see it at all. He doesn't have any end product & I don't see that drastically changing if he joined us.

Don’t think we’d be interested in him as solely an attacking player who gets us goals. At least I hope not.

We’d be buying him as a wingback who bombs up and down the flank, beats players for fun with extreme pace and skill, and then crosses the ball in for our attackers. Something he did to excellent effect in the ‘19/‘20 season. Basically what Hakimi does, hence the interest in him.

He has shown that he can be super dangerous and downright unplayable in this league. Yes, he struggled this past season but so did the whole Wolves team. That’s why they’ve basically blown up the Nuno project and are starting fresh.

I quite like him, he's very aggressive in attack. But he's been a bit of a journeyman his whole career. Is he just a late bloomer or has he just hit a bit of a purple patch in form recently?

Although he seems to play mostly on the left, he's right footed so I assume he'd be capable and comfortable playing on either flank. With that versatility in mind, he may not be a bad option, would really depend on Roma's stance. If it's a means of trying to push a player or two in their direction I wouldn't be against it.

If it would involve paying upwards of £20-25m though I'd pass.

How much have you watched him? Extreme skill is not two words that have stuck me when watching him.

I know youtube can make anyone look great, but have a look at him there. He’s very good with the ball, almost scary good at times. Dances and explodes past players for fun.

From a deeper position or overlapping with our right sided attacker he could prove lethal. Or perhaps coming on late in games against tired legs.

His dribbling and pace are clearly his strengths. I don't think anybody is disputing he can be a headache for a full back having to match up to him. The problem comes once he's beaten that full back, his decision making leaves a lot to be desired and when it is the right choice his final pass/cross/shot is far too inconsistent.

Add to that is he defensively good enough to play that wing back role, particularly at the highest level?

I don't want us dropping £30-40m or upwards transfers on what are essentially squad players. We've done far too much of this in the past which is why we have the likes of Zappacosta, Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Batshuayi, Barkley on the books still. For me, he's not an upgrade on Reece James at RWB. Therefore I'd prefer we stick with James and use a combination of Azpi and Livramento to support him.

Use that budget on a better quality of player. I'd rather it be used on one or two quality players who can come in and make a huge difference to the squad, rather than three or four more squad fillers just for the sake to freshen the squad up.

a number of issues:

After these Euros £20-25m is a pipe dream. It is Mou and Roma, they will want a lorry full of cash to part ways.

We also would be buying a fullback whom we would get only one fill sub-30yo season out of (he turns 29yo end of winter/beginning of spring)

He is a right footer who is now playing at LB/LWB, a situation that historically doesn't work out well in the EPL. Are we buying him for RWB or LWB?

This last season seems a historical aberration (and even this season was hardly a super output, 3 of his 8 total, all comps assists were against Cluj and Braga in the EL, and he had zero goals, 1 assist (v AC Milan) against quality teams all year, all comps)

he has a a career total of ONE net topflight league goal (3 goals minus 2 OG's)

in his entire European topflight career of 26 games (mostly EL, not CL, he only played one CL game ever, that was for Juve) his only production in terms of goals produced v quality teams was one assist versus Dortmund in February, 2018 (when he was playing for Atalanta), cross to Josip Ilicic in a 2 3 loss (a famous one for us, Bats sored a brace for Dortmund, including a 91st minute game winner)

the cross is at 1:12 (right footed diagonal ball, not a driving left-footed parallel cross as is more common for a left back)

here are his topflight career stats: (red ball is OG)

I am not convinced this would be a good buy at all

He had a decent season the year Wolves were newly promoted & most teams weren't that aware of them. Come last season and see his contribution, not to mention his actual decision making (which is awful IMO).

All in all, I see him being nothing more than an addition player to our squad that won't improve it of any note should he join. We've had enough of those players in recent years, haven't we?

Hakimi does much more than that and actually has some end product. The drop-off between the two is so drastic it isn't even funny. His actual decision making is the reason I'm against the prospect, which has been evident on countless occasions.

Different fees have been mention, but if he doesn't notably improve on what we have, why throw money down the drain?

As someone else points out, what is the point of buying average players for £20m-£40m a pop if they're not even guaranteed to start? We have a long history of buying such players and 90%+ of them end up being a disaster and/or us taking a massive loss.

For me, one thing the academy boys have shown is that there is zero point buying such players. A much better idea when we need a back up player is to give the youth option a chance and then evaluate after they have had a go.

For me, of Liva is as good as everyone who says they have watched him is, then giving him six months instead of signing Adama makes a lot more sense. It is one thing to want Hakimi who is probably the worlds best RWB and another to want Adama to come in and be given a go.

Isak is going to be a very good player undoubtedly but what gets me is that he is playing for his country on one of the biggest stages and every game, his finishing has been very bad.

I know his goal return has been good in Spain and in Sweden when he broke onto the scene but what I have seen this tournament, its looked like he does the hard part then fucks the easier bit.

I don't rate Isak that much. He's decent but he's not a beast a la Drogba, which is exactly what Haaland is. Cech might be in for Schick as a backup. I don't really rate any of the other alternatives. We need a striker to lead the press, link up in deeper areas and be clinical when presented a lot of chances.
