Yeah we tend to remember the one guy snubbed by the manger who did well once brought on; for each one those there are tons of players who did not get minutes, or did not get many minutes, because they were nowhere near good enough.

Managers watch these players every freaking day. They ask these players to do certain things, then watch how they execute. Tbh, I don't see where he's so wrong; maybe lack of rotation, but that's debatable too--we haven't player that many games for the fitness to be well were it is at. 😕

Corinthians are in advanced negotiations to sell 16-year-old full-back Denner to Chelsea for £10.5 million with bonuses.

A meeting on Wednesday could seal the deal.

If it goes through, Denner will only be able to play for Chelsea after he turns 18, in February 2026. It will be £6.7 million upfront and a further £3.8 million in add-ons.

This has to stop at some point. It's a scattergun approach rather than picking the best of the bunch.

Just look at Pedro Limo, who seemed set to join us last summer before Wolves came in. I understand he's young and may come good in years to come, but he is just another example of what's wrong with this ideology in footballing terms. If we're talking about human trafficking, the board is doing a stellar job.

It's a combo of his sole transfer selection (from what we can tell—KDH) and the board signing guys the manager was never interested in (Felix being the obvious example). If he doesn't want to play someone he chose and "watched" day in and day out for over a year and doesn't like the look of Palmer's alternative, despite Palmer being off the pace for weeks, he is essentially contributing to this and our bad run of form.

Maresca becomes a YES man, employing all of the players at his disposal regardless of who brought them in, or he isn't a YES man and fights for the correct players, assuming he's given the chance in six months and KDH was a one-time occurrence. Something needs to give for us to take crucial steps in the right direction for the club's immediate and long-term future.

I have to imagine that KDH shows signs of struggle in practice just as he does in games, after all he's now playing with and against far superior footballers -- not to mention athletes (which is where I think he mostly lacks).

I don't rate Felix at all, so not sure what to say here.

Every employer is a yes-man, esp one without the experience and name to push back. It is still very strange to me that people are surprised by things we knew about Maresca the moment he was hired.

So, I'm not sure I have enough evidence to say the manager is wrong about this or that player. Again, I agree that he perhaps could have rotated more esp in conf league, but it's very hard to do that in the PL, esp when you are chasing CL.

You are aware KDH has previous PL experience (59 games to be exact), right? 

His struggles or limitations shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, especially the person who has coached him for almost two years.

I'm unsure what was known, as early signs showed Maresca would make choices that benefit the team. He did that by getting rid of a few bad eggs and standing his ground by freezing others out (Chilwell—which I'm still unsure was a wise move considering he could still be here come June). His biggest call will be Sanchez this weekend. If he remains GK, he won't be manager till the end of the season.

You are mentioning one game in isolation. Felix didn't get a minute of match time against Everton, Fulham, and Palace, and the one game he played was at LW against Ipswich. Nkunku was fielded as a CF, and people are wondering why he was a non-entity. He isn't a CF. As I mentioned in another thread, it's very clear Maresca has his favourites who might have delivered for him prior to Everton away, but they haven't been doing so since. At least we are in agreement about something —rotation, rotation, rotation.

Players also lose motivation and have egos.   Not every player is going to be 'team-first' and happily come onto the pitch and try to make a difference.  

The problem for Maresca is that not one of our attackers (bar Palmer) is consistent enough to be first choice on the team sheet.   

Neto, Sancho, Mudryk (before he got banned), Madueke...are all the same, decent players on their day but not consistent game changers.   Same can be said for Jackson, but he's got plenty of room to improve and become a quality striker. 

It says a lot when our best attacker (talent wise) Nkunku is nowhere near his early season form and he's keen to leave after seeing a few months of Maresca's tactics.

I don't really care a whole lot about KDH. He's not good enough like many signed by the club, so I don't think he should be singled out.
Maresca is a newbie coach like Arteta was when he took over Arsenal--this was mentioned a lot around here. There is should be no surprise.
Felix is shit (at this level) and he belongs at a smaller club. He demands a free role to operate, but isn't good enough to get one at a club like Chelsea. He shouldn't have been signed.

While I agree that none is the match winner type, I strongly disagree about Mudryk: if I called Felix shit above, to make a point, Mudryk is barely a footballer in my mind. Players have different characteristics, like in terms of work rate for ex, Neto > Madueke >>> Sancho >>>>>>>>> Mudryk.

All I hear on this forum is scoring goals, but when I watch our games all I see is us conceding nonstop. It's totally OK to win 1 nil sometimes.

You guys remember Rudiger, Jorginho, Giroud under Lampard? He watched them every single day in training and decided to freeze them. And remember what Tuchel did with them in the same season? One become arguably best CB in the world, other was UEFA player of the year and last one was scoring in every opportunity he got.

First of all, as much as I consider, and have said so before, Maresca as a newcomer at this level, Lampard really never did anything in coaching o deserve to be our manager.

Now, Jorginho and Giroud were pretty much the same players everybody knew with very glaring strengths and weaknesses. Rudiger was always an interesting player, but had a pretty rough time with injuries. We only got to see his abnormally high pace for a CB, once he stayed injury-free for a while.

This place is so weird... The club hires the championship "Arteta". Many here, myself included, show disappointment with the lack of ambition and suggest he will be a yes-man to help with a very long-term project. Now we are finally discovering all that again?! has anything changed? What did people expect? He's a project just like the squad we have.
Many of us warned about young players and lack of consistency... see Gusto's form? Is he a bad player all of the sudden?

Finally, do you see a Rudiger in the squad? a Jorginho, or a Giroud? because all I see is limited CBs (with a single one IMO with WC *potential*), a very young perma-wrecked DM, and an even younger striker who will NOT play whoever the manager may be.
