whats happening 1,632
all summer everyone was saying 90-100m for caicedo is madness now liverpool bids 110m and again everyone is outraged that we did not bid that much. 110m pounds is fucking crazy money for a dmc. i would rather pay 50m pounds for lavia than 110m for caicedo. in the end, what a fucking embarrassing work from our board. sainttourist, bigbluewillie and Fernando

The problem is we could've got him for 100M for the last 2 months fairly easy and avoid all this frustration. Popular Post! chelsea_4_eva 1,182 Posted August 11, 2023 Popular Post! Share Posted August 11, 2023 £110M that is a LOT of money... even more than Enzo.. who we bought not even a year ago, people seem to forget that.. Yes it was a bit frustrating that we were chasing him for months only to lose out, but who would have guessed that somebody would pay more than £90M for him. The board was just trying to get their money's worth and I can see why they choose to hold off on the £100M bid, tbh for me I would have not even got past the £85M mark as I thought that that was a fair and realistic price for him. Fair play to Brighton they got their price. We move on. Beigl, Norfolkblue1961, DDA and 7 others 7

Hope we clinch that deal today, his consistency is nowhere near Caicedo but can develop. With a bit of luck maybe we finish Top 5.

The embarrassment isn’t just that we lost out at the end. It’s that we FINALLY bid what Brighton wanted once it was too late. He’d be a Chelsea player weeks ago before preseason even started if we bid this £100m. If reports are to be believed, this is now the FOURTH time since the Boehly era started that we’ve made a massive bid for a player once it’s too late. -We bid £50m for Lavia right at the deadline last summer. -We bid for Gabriel Jesus once he had already given his word to Arteta. -I believe it was Ornstein who said we put in a last second bid for Mac Allister after he had already agreed with Liverpool. -And now Caicedo The only one of these last second scrambles we’ve won is Mudryk. And that was only because he wasn’t of utmost importance for Arse but more of a luxury signing. TheHulk and Vesper 1
MoroccanBlue 5,385
Another year where our midfield is significantly weaker than our rivals.

NikkiCFC 8,363
Gotta admit, it's special to spend 800m in a year and your squad is nowhere near top4 level.

There is hardly anyone this summer you can point a finger at and say yeah he will be top class for sure. Maybe Levi but he was our own. With the directors it is just Ugarte and Caicedo and there are reasonable arguments for not paying so much for Ugarte. There were the failed bids for Raphinha, De Ligt, Kounde, Lavia, Jesus and not to mention the signings - Cucurella, Koulibaly, Aubameyang, Fofana, enzoforever

Blue Armour 4,450
On 02/08/2023 at 19:29, Blue Armour said: I said it before. This administration is on course to screw the Poch if they don't give him the central midfield he needs before the start of the season Before anyone accuses me of being a negative nancy who just throws shade at every move the club makes, I'll say two things. I accept the club has made a lot of good moves this window with smart buys like Jackson and Santos., and moving on deadwood But, as with everything they have done in the past season, when they try to undo mistakes, they overcompensate in the opposite extreme. They got burnt with big money signings last year, so now they want to drag their feet with the midfield replacements for our departed senior players. I'm not going to even mention the potential Vlahovic move here, because it's idle paper talk at this point. But that's definitely not a move we should be considering. All this is going to undermine any good work that Poch does. There's a difference between recognizing mistakes and actually learning from them Based on what happened last season, I've come to the conclusion that this administration is very poor at the latter. I don't want to repeat myself by typing all over, so I leave my quote up there. If the Caicedo transfer to Liverpool is truly done and dusted, we are well on our way to having another mediocre season. Not as bad as the last one, because we at least have a decent manager at the helm., but won't be much to shout about Fulham Broadway
