Thor 2,831
He has one good season and people act like he is the best thing ever at that position. Remember when we spent 100 mil last time on a player that was meant to change it all. We went from 12th to… 12th. We are buying players on the up, some with experience, and guys that are undervalued. Kante, Dave, James, Costa, Silva, Rudiger, etc…. All players that came on the cheaper side or through the academy or that were “second choice” and they won us silverware. I'm sorry, but that comes across as a strawman argument. No one wanted Caicedo because he cost 100m, they wanted him because he is highly rated. Lukaku on the other hand already divided opinion before his arrival. Myself and several others on this forum expressed concerns about his arrival. EDIT: I see you mean Enzo, but my argument about Caicedo stands Edited August 11, 2023 by Blue Armour

Both Brighton and Liverpool wanted Colwill. And BOTH lost out. We keep him and he never cost a penny. Fenway Red Sox Sports Group now end up paying 110m (!!!) which is more than Rice, for a player Brighton bought recently for 4million. Their forums laughing at us for such little reason.... Vesper 31,112
Lavia is a buy now or basically forget him, as his Citeh buyback clause kicks in in 2024 also there is a 20% sell on fee (that is NOT triggered by the 2024 buyback) that goes to Citeh (which is why SOTON was demanding £50m, as they would only net £40m and right NOW, Citeh will also formally be given the opportunity to match any offers submitted for Lavia

cosmicway 1,333
They would probably keep raising the price and either settle for the 90 million from Chelsea in the end or sell to a new bidder - if one turned up. So in the end it was L'pool. For me it was strange that we offered 90 and shied away from 10 more, but whatever happened it's no use crying over spilled milk. It was a mistake perhaps to go for Lavia and not allow Liverpool to get him and spend their budget but again could n't somebody else turn up ? Essentially we were looking for a new Kante so if Tyler or Lavia are not up to this standard we ought to look someplace else now and forget about Caicedo. Go to Inter and make an offer for Barella. Go to Bayern and offer for Kimmich. Go to Madrid and offer for Tcho. Make these clubs say no to £100m when they aren’t doing nearly as well financially as top PL clubs are. agree
