Latest reports seemed to suggest we are leaning towards Olise rather than Kudus

because Kudus is going to Brighton

I have no problem with Olise as the RWer to share minutes with Noni

but Kidis is a better athlete, a better scorer, a better presser and can play any position up front, AMF, RW, LW (the place he would play the least), SS, and CF

IF we had purchased Kudus

then my final buys

would have been (and this is also predicated on selling Sterling to KSA, CuCu to KSA, Ziyech to KSA, Gallagher to whoever will pay £45-50m,  Trevoh to whoever will pay £25 to 35m so, and also sell CHO, and Malang Sarr, total intake for all of those combined at least £160 to maybe even £180m):

then I would have bought

Caicedo (£90m) can play DMF and CMF

Kudus (£34m) can play anywhere up front

Mohamed Simakan  (£30m) solid, athletic, CB and also a very good RB

swap deal with Juve (Rom plus £25m for Vlahovic)

total gross spend for those four (£184m)

net spend £4m to £24m, depending on how much we get for the sales I listed

add in £20m negative wobble  just to be conservative

and you have £24 to £44m net spend for a worst case scenario

lower wages and 4 vital, (with 3 of them versatile AF) players

updated as I forgot Ziyech

add in selling Broja and worst case scenario

is a net profit of £6m to only £14m net spend or so

I don't disagree, would've preferred Kudus as well

If Gallagher goes, I go too.

Right to whichever club is buying. Drop him off and everything.

I will pay the petrol and get him a full body massage from a Mayfair outcall brass as a parting gift if we pull £50m for him

room at The Cumberland, steps away from the Marble Arch tube

easy off, easy on

Judging by how much Gallagher was used in preseason, how often he’s talked about his love for our club and how much he wants to stay I don’t think he’s going anywhere. All rumors of his departure have ceased as well. Looks like Poch finds him useful.

Adams seems like the kind of midfielder you can bring on for or one of the attacking players later in matches when you want to see out a result. If we’re a goal up or just want to protect an important point away from home against a top team you can bring him on and he’ll be useful.

One has to leave for Adams to come in. (assuming Caicedo is already here).

Reckon Adams only comes in if an insane offer comes for Gallagher. We are covering our bases by inquiring for Adams.

Olise just seems very Ziyech-like to my eye. A right winger who’s REALLY good at whipping in crosses from open play and set pieces but not a whole lot more. He’s bigger and more athletic than Ziyech of course so you won’t see him getting easily brushed off the ball, I guess.

He just feels like more of a luxury player to me. And if we’re interested in that I’d much rather go and get Cherki.

Far better dribbler than Ziyech, more physical and better defensively.

IF Caicedo gets over the line I will become a conspiracy theorist - probably the deal has been made for some time, quietly between directors and not shared beyond:

1. We have not gone and spent shit loads on other top CM options, we perhaps knew all along this was happening from the negotiations we did weeks ago, as long as we went along with the sequence of events required

2. Brighton would demand we keep it under wraps, ala Gvardiol and many other transfers we've seen before, to stop them getting fleeced by clubs who know they've got ~£90m-£100m coming in

3. Brighton when they've secured all players (for whom we must not compete - probably this is why we backed away from Kudus move) sell him for a fee we've already agreed with them in the region mentioned above

4. That price was only agreeable under basis we solve their Sanchez situation favourably as well?

All of that benefits Brighton, true, but I’m not sure we would agree to wait and wait and wait until our whole preseason is done for such an important player. We would’ve wanted to bring in our most important signing of the summer weeks ago.

I like Conor but only really has value in a midfield 3.much like most CM players we have had over last 10 years or so to various degrees. Even the mighty Kante when fit was better in a 3 than a 2.

Conor is too much of a spaniel for it!

We've already been offered more than he is worth to us in a 4-2-3-1.

I like Kudus alot, liked him abit more than Olise due to so much positional flexibility, but Olise is Kevin Sheedy/Ziyech left peg with speed, plus offers more than Sheedy/Ziyech and the best option if looking for a pure wide man.

Cherki is probably the biggest boom or bust prospect of the entire window.and like Olise pretty much only potentially great in one position.
