Norfolkblue1961 reacted to Mário César in The Next Manager?
Xabi Alonso was still one of the most attractive managers available outside the elite already in top jobs, and it was only a matter of time before he picked up another major role anyway - that’s not really the point here. He won the league with Leverkusen, broke Bayern’s long-standing dominance in Germany, and has been at Real Madrid. There’s simply no comparison to be made. This is exactly the kind of manager with the stature and mentality for clubs at this level.

I have no doubts about Alonso’s ability to coach and win football matches. Even looking at his Madrid stint he didn’t “fail” on the actual pitch. He was run out of town by the entitled, pampered babies with monster egos like Vini from what I’ve read. His record there wasn’t bad at all.
What I do have big skepticism about is whether these directors and owners will do what’s necessary in the transfer window. Both ins and outs. Will they allow Alonso to get rid of some of these shit players that the directors were obsessed with us signing just last summer? That’ll be the true test to show us whether they’ve truly changed or just issuing their usual PR.
Trim the fat in the squad and give him 3-4 HAND PICKED signings that HE recommends.

Coach and manager mean fuck all, it's just letters.

Wait until your all crying when he doesn't get signing you are craving for, we lose three games and he isn't playing total football...seen it all before and the SD's are working him from the top, your all getting drawn in and mugged off.
These SD's are killing this club, they will survive before any manager and and success at this club

I think you’re bending the narrative a bit to fit a negative conclusion.
He’s been out of work for a few months, yes - but that doesn’t suddenly mean he’s “not in demand”. Top managers don’t move every week; they wait for the right project. That’s normal at elite level, not a red flag.
His record also isn’t “not all that” - winning the Bundesliga with Leverkusen and breaking Bayern’s dominance is one of the hardest managerial achievements in Europe in recent years. That alone puts him in a very small group of elite managers.
His time at Real Madrid also shouldn’t be used against him in the way you’re framing it. His win percentage there was actually very strong, and his dismissal looks questionable in hindsight given how the team performed afterwards. That context matters - it suggests the issue wasn’t simply that he wasn’t good enough, but something more complex.
As for the Liverpool comparison and the idea that fans will inevitably turn on him, that’s just speculation. You can say that about any manager at a big club if results dip. It doesn’t really prove anything.
You’re free to be sceptical, but based on actual evidence, he’s still one of the strongest managerial appointments available in world football right now - not a gamble or a “not in demand” profile in the way you’re suggesting.

Yes the time has been 5 months. Out of work, obviously not that much in demand. His record isnt all that by the way - and getting sacked by Madrid
I am prepared to give it a chance, but wouldnt be at all suprised if hes gone March, or April 2027. A run of fuck ups with his Liverpool history, fans will turn on him like they did with FSW

A few weeks ago Liam Rosenior was in charge and now we have Xabi Alonso. Pretty seismic upgrade. Now let’s see the ins/outs on the player side

He's won the league in one of Europe's top 5 leagues. Is there someone with PL manager experience who has the body of work of Alonso?

Makes sense from his perspective. He's been looking for a way into the Premier League and we are the biggest club where there's a job opening this summer.
Premier League is now the league of a handful of managers from Basque country - Arteta, Emery, Iraola,
