We need more than a single new attacking player. I just cannot imagine Tuchel being satisfied going into another season living on a hope and prayer that Werner/Pulisic/Ziyech/CHO magically become prolific. It’s just not going to happen. Whether it’s 2 new attacking mids or a striker + attacking mid, we need a pretty substantial refresh up top. All the reporting and quotes from Boehly himself have mentioned being smarter and more savvy in recruitment than we were before. Well, signing one of Europe’s most talented wide players on a free and signing one of the title winners key players over recent seasons is savvy and smart. I'll go back to what I was saying last summer. If there's no one I'd rather wait. We must not panic and just look at the top line again. Furthermore if we go 433 I feel CHO, Kai and Sterling will be an excellent front 3. Callum will have his creativity (3rd for big chances created and key passes in the league last season) aswell as his natural chemistry with Reece on the right, Kai as false 9 and hopefully an improved goal record and Sterling as a much needed inside forward. Even in a back 3 we could still see that as lot as Mount can't play every game. DDA, Fernando and Strike 2
Pizy 18,966
De Ligt feels like such a boom or bust signing. He’s young enough and talented enough that he could become world class but for the massive transfer fee Juve would demand he could also be the next super expensive Chelsea flop. I suppose that bringing him into a back 3 would make things easier for him. If the likes of soft ass Christensen and raw Chalobah can excel in our formation De Ligt should be able to as well. He has the ability and overall a leaders mentality. Many Juve fans want him to stay and become their future captain. He started of a little poorly there but from what I've read, he has improved alot. I would prefer him over Kounde, he plays with more heart on the field. Fernando

Not sure why it’s even a discussion that anyone will buy him for that.

Blues Forever 1,232
Juventus want to extend De Ligt’s contract. But now they expect a signal from the player. If this signal doesn't come, transfer scenarios could open. Situation is to be carefully monitored.
MoroccanBlue 5,385
So first it was de Ligt needed to sign an extension for a lower release clause, now its he needs to sign an extension to stay at Juve?

No, De Ligt will only sign an extension if Juve agreed to lower the release clause. MoroccanBlue
chelsea_4_eva 1,182
Last i heard, Juve were interested in Jorgi?.. Honestly i find De Ligt the perfect mold of the type player we desperately need at CB. Can play in a 2 or 3, a leader at the back that can learn so much from Silva and take over from him when Silva moves on, also his mentality is something we want at the club. He would be big money for sure but I feel he is worth the risk. Fernando

Ofcourse out of possesion you have to track back and do your bit but in possesion you're almost a number 10. King Kante 1,643
I like De Ligt, but I think we would need to continue with a 3 for a while to settle him in. I really rate him as I think he has most things in his locker, the only issue is ability against pace, so he is going to require safety behind that can tuck in for him until he becomes acclimatised to the PL. Additionally, I can see a situation where we may be able to include Jorgi in a deal there which may open up a slot in CM which a lot of people seem to want addressed. Maybe doing something like £45-£60m plus Jorgi (I value him at about £25-£30m) would work for everyone. Obviously would depend on who is available in CM. Would really like Rabiot as a backup to Jorginho. £15m being touted. Jorginho worth keeping just because Italy are not in the World Cup. Focus next summer on replacing him with Rice or whoever Tuchel/Boehly identify.

Can't see us spending £60m on a guy to play second fiddle to James. As for the player himself, I guess it'll come down to what he wants. I agree with your assessment that WB in possession becomes an attacker but the job of tracking back is a tough one. You don't do it properly and you'll soon get a lot of grief on social media. Have a feeling he would go missing for large parts of the season playing in the Prem. I'm open to him proving me wrong but Im certainly not a fan of his behavioural patterns. Superblue 6,372
If Lewa leaves this summer, I do think Nagelsmann would fancy a reunion with Werner. Just depends if the Bayern board back him or decide on an alternative target. Perhaps opens up the possibility of swapping Werner for Gnabry?? He didn't do much in England before he left to tear it up in Germany. Could easily be another one of those players who do well in Germany and struggle in England. Mane is Lewa's replacement also. One thing about Gnabry is whilst he's not slow, he isn't a pace merchant relying on raw pace and high lines. His movement and technical ability, especially in tight spaces are very strong. Put it this way, I love Timo's attitude but if the option was there to swap him for Gnabry, I'd take that punt every day.
