he as 4 years deal

its too much to let him go

Yup

werner is probably gone in summer

i think if we genuinely offer him to share mins with Lukaku he should take it. As much as I am pissed with Lukaku atm, I think he can improve Broja. It’s not that we are gonna get rid of him anytime soon

Does anyone honestly think Broja is good enough to play for us?

Personally I think he's trending in the right direction but I think if he comes back here too quickly it could be to his detriment.

We've all seen the strides that Gallagher has made this season compared to last with the continued exposure to first team Premier League football.

I think one more year on loan after this will be best for Broja and I think then will be the best time to make a decision on him. I wouldn't be against him staying another year at Southampton if Hassenhuttl is that high on him.

He’s ready.

I don’t think 7 goals for Southampton is really amazing evidence to say he’s absolutely ready to play here. Its a step after his promising stint with Vitesse, clearly, but look also look at players like Ings, Watkins etc at Southampton and Villa (Ings at Villa has hugely struggled though), generally to be a CF for the top top teams you need to be someone who sticks out a lot every game and I wouldn’t say from what I’ve seen of Southampton this season that Broja is quite there yet.

I have no doubts he’s a good prospect but he more than likely would of been a bench warmer/squad player this season and barring the injury crisis we had in attacking positions towards the back end of last year when Lukaku, Werner and Havertz were all in and out after Malmo IIRC, he would rarely have played (hence why TT and the club sanctioned his loan because it was the smart move).

I think unless he explodes and is scoring every game/second game to the season finishes (even then I think it would take something obscene to not loan him again as young CFs generally need to play to develop), we may try and find him another loan again next season. At the same time, there is absolutely no need to rush Broja’s trajectory either, he’s only 20 and whilst he has impressed in Holland and is progressing under Hasenhuttl there are still questions as to how he would do in a bigger and better team who don’t necessarily play counter attacking football as Southampton generally tend to let teams pen them in and try expose them playing on the transition.

Tuchel rates him which is as good an indicator that if he’s allowed to develop in the right way and TT is here, he will absolutely integrate him in to the squad but its just the whole Lukaku dividing opinion and not cutting it alongside the others not having the expected output which is accelerating the thought of him being “ready”. If Rom was banging them in and the other attackers were performing better it wouldn’t be an issue.

I mean many (myself included) thought that Lukaku probably wasn’t ready after his two loan spells with WBA and Everton. Whilst it didn’t work out in the long run as it cost us 70 odd M after selling him and resigning him, I think at the time it wasn’t inaccurate to say that. Obviously different players but I don’t even think Broja is half at the level Rom was during that season at Everton.

Boubacar Kamara fits perfectly into the profile Bayern are looking for (a player that can fill in both at CB and DM). Talk with the player's representatives has already begun. Chelsea and Barcelona are the other clubs, who currently also in talks with Kamara.

🚨 BREAKING: Chelsea have made a £33M offer for the Frenkie de Jong 🇳🇱. Barcelona are prepared to sell struggling midfielder this year. Barca value De Jong at £50M but may be willing to accept a lower price.

It's worth pointing out that The Athletic article that person quoted from made ZERO mention of Southampton wanting to sign Broja on a permanent basis. Hasenhuttl didn't say it either. So, it could still be a loan deal for another season.

Unless Tuchel intends to play with 2 upfront permanently or is not going to try and play Lukaku in every game, it's best Broja is loaned out for another season. Getting the odd game time here and there isn't going to help his development. We also still got Werner and Havertz who can play as the ST and unlike Broja, those two can at least play other positions to not block his path.

If we decide to get rid of Werner before Lukaku, Ziyech and Pulisic something is very putrid at this club.

We would have to take a huge financial hit too.. fuck. in regards to Lukaku i mean

Can't believe he is 26 and the highlight of his career was his goal against Arsenal for the U23's.

Lewis Baker has left Chelsea for Stoke City in a permanent deal.

The attacking midfielder has joined the Staffordshire side on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

Baker, 26, had been at Chelsea for 17 years. He made just his second appearance for the senior side against Chesterfield last week, eight years after his debut.

During this period, Chelsea sent him on loan to eight different clubs: Sheffield Wednesday, MK Dons, Vitesse Arnhem, Middlesbrough, Leeds United, Reading, Fortuna Dusseldorf, and Trabzonspor.

A Chelsea statement said: “Lewis Baker has today signed for Championship side Stoke City on a permanent deal, bringing to an end his 17-year association with Chelsea.

“The midfielder departs having progressed through our Academy ranks to make two senior appearances for the club, the most recent of which came last weekend as a substitute in our FA Cup victory against Chesterfield.”

Stoke are currently 10th in the Championship, six points behind the play-off places. Baker is the third arrival of the window, after Phil Jagielka and Manchester City youngster Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

Manager Michael O’Neill said: “From speaking to Lewis it’s clear that he is ready to lay down roots at a club and kick-on with his career.

“He’s a very talented midfielder who will bring a different dimension to our squad and we are delighted to have him on board with us.”
