Do not get the hype with Petrovic whatsoever. Just like Sanchez, he isn't good enough and showed that when he did get a chance with us. Simply, he has found his level in a weaker league, where he isn't being pressed into making a quick decision as he was here.

Yeah, watching footage of him and it’s almost scary how similar he looks to Nico Williams. Though, Williams has proven on a bigger stage that he is elite with Spain. Be interesting to see if Gittens can do it in the PL.

A lot of fans have noted how poor Nico has been for Atletico and then only shows up for Spain.

Unsure how this plays into how he’d do here but yeah, Gittens seems similar and probably why he was targeted if the team liked the look of Nico.

Chelsea have submitted an official proposal to sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund and have agreed a seven-year contract with the forward.

The 20-year-old is keen on a move and only wants to join Chelsea, who hold a long-standing interest in the England Under-21 international.

Dortmund view the potential sale of Gittens as key to a summer rebuild and believe the forward is not a natural fit for head coach Niko Kovac’s preferred system.

Gittens, who has yet to play for England’s senior international team, believes the move will provide a platform for him to push for a place in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.

The Athletic reported on June 3 that Gittens and Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho were on Chelsea’s list of winger targets in the summer window.

Chelsea’s move comes after the club opted against making Jadon Sancho’s 2024-25 season-long loan deal a permanent move, having scored five goals in 41 appearances during his move from Manchester United.

Bayern Munich had previously expressed an interested in a summer move for Gittens, but a bid never materialised.

Gittens joined Dortmund in 2020 from Manchester City’s youth system and has made 106 first-team appearances for the German club, with whom he is contracted through to 2028.

2024-25 was a breakthrough season for the England Under-21 international, who scored 12 goals for Dortmund including four in the Champions League.

Predominantly a left winger, Gittens has also been deployed in an attacking midfield role.

He is yet to be capped at senior level with England, with whom he won the European Championship in 2022 at under-19 level.

Hearing that they met at 18 mil to get the deal done.

Maybe a slight overpay for a keeper with a year left on contract. But if he’s back to his best with us, we are good for 4 or 5 years at keeper.

Gittens to me looks like someone who flatters to decieve. Firstly he strikes me as a player who is best when he physically out matches people, but can do a good step over and dribble reasonably well so people overrated his technical skills when it is more to do with being faster and stronger. Second, he looks like he needs a lot of space to be effective which is not not happening in the PL. Third, he is an AM who got dropped in the Bundesliga for not producing enough.

For me, he has too many red flags and seems similar to a RLC type character where because he 'looks like a player' everyone thinks with a bit more experience and maturity he will 'fulfil his potential'.

If he is something like £30m plus some add on's and takes a reasonable wage, I will be fine with it as he always has the English tax we can leverage later. However, I don't see why we would replace him with any of the AM's we have on the payroll already with the exception of Mudryk. For instance, I rate Noni above this guy and half suspect Noni is going to be flushed for a profit but have a better next couple of seasons and we hope we can have him follow a similar projection to Noni so we can flush him in two years time.
