you think David is underwhelming?

If so, I am glad you have no input

I recall people saying the same thing about Camavinga and Tchou (our own fucking shit scouts said so then!) when I was hell bent to sign them, because................. Ligue 1 🙄

smdh

That boy can ball very technical, can finish, knows how to create to get teammates in a position to score. I see nothing wrong with this signing.

why do people keep putting Wes Fofana in as some sort of locked down starter??

he has been shattered multiple times now for years

likely one of the worst Chels buys ever (as we bought him as already really damaged goods, and for a monster fee and a big salary on a long term)

Coming back stronger than ever 💪

obviously, i don't watch lille's games, but the average number of goals and the age and type of player and his price seem to me to be the most logical option for a club that wants to fight for the top 4.

even the number of goals in relation to the number of games is pretty good, to be honest

Things I like most about watching Jonathan David’s footage are his composure in front of goal and the variety in his finishing ability. Doesn’t seem to get rushed and doesn’t panic when an easy chance presents itself. Which so many Chelsea players have done in recent years.

plus he dresses and carries himself well, is not a gangsta gangsta attitude machine, plus is humble and mature for a young age

Mr. Boehly finally found his 100+ points team. 👉 title next season.

James Fofana Colwill Cucurella

                       Lavia

              Caicedo   Enzo

        Palmer   David   Nkunku

Zero weak links. Pep gonna leave England miserable 😢

Nitpick: experience remains low.
Aside from the Fofana strong disagree (hope Nkunku and James aren't on the same boat) already addressed by others, my point here is that at this level, it's not about weaknesses anymore. The bar for top 4 in the PL is so high that not having weaknesses just isn't good enough IMO.

The tricky part is to find ways to have a competitive advantage against the few teams who spend as much as (or more than) we do. Yeah, nobody said this was easy.

That's one of the reasons I was never against making some bets in attack and in mid, but I don't really grok the self-inflicted wound regarding lack of experience in a contact sport where intimidation runs rampant on the pitch esp in away games.

David or Duran are both a great option.

Its hilarious seeing people bitch and moan on here. Take a look at all the signings over the years that we praise the most, and even do now - and its the ones no one here had heard of prior to coming.

Duran isn't a great option as he's untested.  We don't need 2 developing players as our first team striker options.

The preference would be David but he'll have plenty of choices for his next club, will be interesting to see if Chelsea can sell him on the project moving forward.

Doesn't help that we've arrived at David after public moves for Duran, Omorodion and interest in Solanke, Sesko, Gyokeres and Osimhen

Would maybe prefer Duran over Davies due to the raw talent and potential of Duran tbh.
Davies has been around for a couple of seasons without any bigger team making a move for him and while he is 24 and would add a little more experience to our squad, he already reached his ceiling or close to it.

I have watched him a handful of times and i just didnt see anything special.

I dont care if he dresses well and i can understand that a canadian supporter would love him here but.. If we were linked to Kulusevski i would be disappointed even though he is Swedish and we grown up in the same area, going to the same barber and hang out in the same circles.

I would love to be wrong though so if Davies comes and smash it i will raise my arms and admit error of judgement.

Are you talking about Kevin Davies or who?

ps: Kulusevski’s hair is tragic, you better find a new shop for yourself.

That's where I've been going wrong! Get me a cashmere dress coat, and get my agent Todd's number. 🙂

Jonathon David nice option to have in the squad, especially with the injury record of Nkunku. Not convinced he is an immediate starter or displaces anyone in our best XI though.

For the absolute life of me, I cannot make sense of this move for the kid from Villa. It looks exactly like what all the salty opposition fans are moaning about: clubs helping each other out with PSR.

Where does this kid even fit in the team?

It only makes sense if you assume that inflation of transfer fees will continue and not slow down. Then there is minimal risk and lots of upside potential in buying these players, as even if they don't improve you'll sell them for a profit in a few years. Continued inflation on fees can only really come from letting more and more Saudi billionaires buy football clubs though I'd imagine.
