At least we have Colwill and have acted with signing of Disasi

Our backline is in good hands regardless. Levi, Badi, Disasi - lets wait and see what happens when Fofana is back. We have a good selection of fullbacks as well now.

Defence has never been a problem for us. We never leaked a whole lot of goals, and that was with a shocking group playing in front and protecting them as well.

No I am not worried about our Def either.  Would trust any of our present cb options and even rate Colwill over Gvardiol. Can see Disasi being a shrewd buy as well. Have been a fan of Badiashile from day 1. just a shame that the money spent on Fofana could have been used elsewhere way better without us being a yota worse off.

I literally couldn’t care less about Gvardiol anymore. I would’ve loved him here 1 year ago when we almost got him. But we’re now set at CB for the foreseeable future so I’m not bothered.

I’m very keen to see how he and Colwill stack up when compared directly in the PL. Gvardiol is quicker but Colwill is better at actual CB things like winning aerial duels and defending. Both are great passers and users of the ball.

So Gvardiol most expensive CB ever. 90m euros. Played WC semi final, CL... While Brighton rejected 93m euros for Caicedo. Joke...

It is excessive. But while I have been harsh on Caicedo myself, he is a rarer talent than Gvardiol simply bc of his position.

There are many talented CBs around overall. Not all have the hype Gvardiol has but few cbs have to be the finished article at 20. CBs often peak late bc a lot of the skills they need to Master go beyond technical talent or natural athleticism but are acquired. Experience and years of learning tactics, positioning, timing etc. Players usually  don’t have all of this at 20.

Stop dealing with this broke Italians.

I'd actually prefer a loan with a buy option say 35M€ to a permanent sale for 25M€ now, even if there were no guarantees the option would be triggered.

It's very likely with all the sales already completed we've brought in more than enough money to cover any immediate FFP concerns and with Trev under contract till 2028 and the club also holding an option for another year, what's the rush?

Chalobah has zero amortisation value so just having Inter paying his full salary for the season would basically clear him off the books for the current financial year but still give us better control over his future. If he were to go on to have a Tomori-like breakthrough season in the Serie A we could easily get more money for him next year than we would now, whether from Inter or some other club.

Gvardiol to city now official. Wow. And we are stuck with that equally expensive rinsed cripple. Great job. Last summer must have been the most disastrous transfer window in history.

Gvardiol and Fofana play on opposite sides of CB.

They have no impact on eachother, even assuming on the unlikely event he wanted us over City and we were considering him it would rightly or wrongly have been Colwill and/or Badiashille that would have stopped us making any move.

Because Chalobah's book value profit (pure profit) will come as revenue before the 70% FFP cap comes into effect.

I don't believe the loan+option to buy rumor in the slightest, and if it is true the club will have 100% hung up the phone and put Inter on block.

People took what they needed like City, United, Liverpool while we deal with Brighton all summer for Caicedo  and we may not even get it

And we still need a goalkeeper, midfielders, right winger and striker.

None of these clubs are even vaguely sorted and they've all had much worse preseasons than us

United took a goalkeeper,  central striker,  and Mount  three positions that upgrade from the previous season

Liverpool have replaced their entire midfield

While City takes whoever it wants.

If the season starts tomorrow, I don't know if we or they will be better prepared.

United took Mount, who has been shit for the last year, a very good goalkeeper and a young striker that was outscored by a DM last year in the same league.

Liverpool have not replaced their entire midfield and are still actively working on it

City so far have only signed Kovacic, Gvardiol probably imminent.

You're living fantasies and are clearly here to whine and put the club down, when the club has done an absolute tonne of good business, we've simply had way more to do than other clubs, a lot of historical mistakes to fix, and we are trying to not get fleeced for individual players and be calm in the market, which is an approach we've wanted and whined about for years and now it is here and here you are whining the opposite way. Impossible to please everybody. Stay unhappy.

Andy Naylor from the Athletic the Brighton correspondent is saying an unnamed team has bid for Caicedo and it is above what we have offered.

Probably a smoke screen as expected

Yeah I bet there are 4 or 5 clubs with 100 mil offers in. We should jump quickly…

Rather, you live in some illusory world, in which the club works at the top level by taking only young players around the world  with potential and it is almost expected from Pochettino to rank them in the top 4 with zero experience in the team , but in fact the level is much lower than what it was with Abramovich.

The very fact that Brighton has been playing with  us all summer clearly shows how well the club is doing. Cheers .
