Lavia is the only solid DM link who I’d be happy to sign if Caicedo proves impossible. He’s not the more experienced midfielder Poch ideally wants but he’s at least got world class potential. We do not need this guy (it is a luxury signing lets be real) so we should offer something very favourable to us, like £15m tops. Either sales or further loans. We need to be realistic about the likelihood of the U21 players making it at Chelsea. They will all make it as good professional footballers but the level of Chelsea is the top of that, or it should be. We are buying them as investments and in the UNUSUAL situation they prove to be a Chelsea level player then great. Maatsen will play further forward in order to find a place for Cucu. If we can get rid of Cucu this or next summer it will be perfect, as physically he just does not fit at the moment. Cherki talk has totally evaporated as well. Feels like Olise is now the primary attacking midfield target and Kudus may have just been sounded out as the fall back option. If I remember the wording Ornstein said, it was something like “Chelsea have explored the conditions of the deal” with Ajax. To me that sounds like the groundwork has been laid and if we cannot get Olise we can quickly move to secure Kudus. Which is a shame in my opinion since I think Kudus is far superior.
