Excited about this lad.

KDB vibes. Hopefully his quality transitions to the PL.

I watched a lot of KDB when he stayed at Genk for the rest of the season after we signed him. Not long after I started doing that I posted (on CfcNet) to say that, "I love, love, love the way he plays football." I've only watched clips of the Russian lad but I can't say I've recognised that same vibe from him yet.

I think that's a pretty impressive effort for a 19 year old and above anything shows there is some raw creative abilities within him.

Not many Russian players are a success outside of Russia which is a little concerning but the top Russian players like Arshavin and Zhirkov made moves in their mid to late 20's to stronger leagues.

I think given his age and a 6 foot frame for him to grow into, on top of his natural talent and potential and he has probably the best chance of anyone to correct the above.

£18M is the price for Kante

Would be dumb and absolutely predictable if we moved him on in Jan when he's on the verge of fitness

We are short on midfield cover. Best thing to do is keep him till the summer and then assess. But no, we'll sell him in Jan so that he doesn't leave on a free

I don't think the new ownership group wants players to leave on a free, we lost out on at least 60-70 million from the Rudiger & Christensen contract sagas...

Is it a situation where we need to get him even if he is injured just to take him off the market ?

I just hope it's not another Fofana situation.  He only just got back from a bad injury and then we splashed all the cash on "potential".

Lol, can't wait for the first time he storms off the pitch after being subbed or refuses to come on after not being selected to start. Also can't wait for his comments dissing Potter a la "of course I didn't know who that guy was". It would be massively beneficial to Potter's career here NOT to sign that has-been. But those Americans probably saw him breaking the shirt sales record and thought he would be a great tool to boost Chelsea's marketability.

looks like whu will listen to offers from Chelsea for rice next summer.

£80m to 90m

they can shove it up their arse if they want £100m plus (those old pests talking about £150m last summer!!!!)

he is not even having a great year so far

at £80-90m

that means

IF we get £18m for Kante in January

Rice will cost a net £62m to 72m

which is fine with me

if we do not buy him this coming summer

I am going to start to chop value off him

as he is putting on CRAY mileage on his legs season after season,

and if we buy him in summer 2024 that means we only get 4 full sub 30yo seasons out of him

and we all know what happens to 95+% of trad crunching DMF's once they hit 30 and over

Selling Kante for 18m would be a mistake.

Couldn't believe the reports and if their true, then whatever little faith left in Boehly I have - virtually none existent as it is - will be gone completely. We need to get someone in younger yes but selling Kante outright would be a huge error - still can deliver in big games. Fitness has been a problem but you can see the difference in our team with a fully fit Kante compared to without, its night and day. I think he could be used in the same way Jose used Maka in his last season.

Be like the Matic-Bakayoko thing all over again although those two weren’t at the level of Kante and Rice. For me, Matic definitely had another season at least of use here and he would of got the minutes for sure as Conte was a huge fan. Just the financial offer was too great to say no to at that age although even Conte admitted he wanted to keep him.

I am still skeptical at how good Rice will be at a top club, considering the inevitable 100m+ price. I mean his progression has been good and steady but West Ham are still a pretty pragmatic team a lot of the time. England are also a pragmatic team too. He suits the profile of what we need though. Its just if he can go and up his game and compete against some of these top top level MFers out there regularly.
