Except City have the ability to rotate their whole attack without a substantial drop in quality whereas we can’t. And vice versa their defence. When Dias and Cancelo are out of the team, they struggle.

Although that could change since we are looking for someone that could challenge James for that spot and I feel he has previously shown he is up to it, we just need this season to see if he is still at that same level atleast after his injury. kexik
Popular Post! OneMoSalah 8,886 Posted August 2, 2022 Popular Post! Share Posted August 2, 2022 (edited) Good to see people who have complained about us not having proper backup/competition for Chilwell and Reece James for maybe 2 seasons are now complaining because we are looking at signing some decent backup/competition for these players (although hopefully not KWP). I mean we are likely going to be letting Alonso and Azpilicueta go (apparently if we can replace them they are free to go), do yous want us to have no back up RB/RWB and LB/LWB? This whole speculation “oh we’ve spent this or will spend this on defenders” or “the budget this, the budget that”, those discussions are pointless unless any of you are Todd Boehly or anyone else involved with the ownership 😂 who knows how much we will spend this summer? I mean first folk complained we didn’t sign anybody for however long, now its we are potentially buying too much defenders… what next, we haven’t signed another attacker? Or central midfielder? Or that we haven’t moved to a new stadium? Or don’t have a kit deal with brand X Y or Z? Fucking hell, cheer up, I for one am incredibly optimistic that we will be seeing a few more faces in the door yet. I don’t think the new owners are going to just replace what we’ve lost, I get the feeling there will be a few upgrades on certain players also. Superblue 6,372
Apparently Spurs have a buy back on Walker Peters. I don't know the exact mechanics and legalities of doing a deal but I would assume just the mere presence of a buy back leaves Southampton somewhat restricted to what they can ask for in a transfer. If they ask for too much, what would stop the buying club like Chelsea having a discussion with Spurs to buy the player back and flip him over to us for a couple of million extra? ZAPHOD2319 4,814
Could we perhaps close a few deals before releasing the list of the next five hopefuls? I am a person that always has routines. this transfer window is really giving me ADD. Maravel21 and Vesper 1

Pizy 18,897
Sounds like we basically just did a check-in on Walker-Peters to get an idea of price. We’re not likely to actually go hard for him at this time. Vesper

ChelseaFanUK 1,014
Carney is probably with a view to a loan somewhere. I can't see where he'd play much... especially if likes of gilmour, barkley and to an extent even RLC struggle to get a look in regularly. We have a plethora of midfielders Edited August 2, 2022 by ChelseaFanUK
