Special Juan 28,830
De Jong is a massive statement and if Ornstein says we are on it then wow.
chelsea_4_eva 1,186
The question is can KWP challenge Reece? We stated that we were looking for WBs that can challenge for the spot. I feel Cucurella can challenge Chilwell not sure about KWP with Reece albeit Reece is WC so its going to be hard. So if we're signing a backup then spend backup type money, if we're signing competition then we're going to have to spend more, we need to avoid spending "competition" type money on a backup. As to me there quite a big difference in quality between decent backup and competition.

Artandur 939
So this Carney fellow goes into the first team and we are working on FDJ? Surely a deal to get rid of Jorgi has to be in the works somehow?
manpe 10,861
Wow, Boehly seems to be very cash happy. Provided the Cucurella, Fofana/Gvardiol and De Jong deals go through, that would make 4 really expensive signings over 50 million euros in one window... Sign of massive intent. Loving the ambition shown, even if not all go through there are reliable signs that we are at least aiming high. chelsea_4_eva 1,186
So do we have any idea what deal we are doing with Brighton regarding Colwill? Because Brighton are known for their hardball negotiations.

Special Juan 28,830
Main Mail headline is 'Chelsea are confident of beating United to De Jong on 71M deal.... It's on by the sounds of it We have what they want in Azpi and Alonso, sounds like something could happen involving them to soften the price. Magic Lamps 11,692
No objections to the player but how does fdj fit in? Surley have to sell Jorginho but can’t see it happening . 6cm for 2 positions is overkill even with the obligatory injuries for kova and Kante

Hopefully that is it because if I remember correctly Livramento nearly went to Brighton but they didnt want to include a buy back so he was sold to Soton. Pizy 19,321
Count me as one who doesn’t see room for De Jong right now. Unless there’s a massive midfield fire sale in these last weeks of the window where like 4 players are sold. That being said, what a ridiculous midfield we’d have if we did sign him. And seeing RedCafe become a smoldering crater after the meltdown would be glorious.
chelsea_4_eva 1,186
Sometimes when an opportunity arises, you take it. Also Kante + Jorgi getting older and on their last year of their contracts, not sure what terms we will offer them to renew or if they even would want to renew. If we get De Jong now then we can focus solely on getting Rice next season and we are set in midfield. manpe

Artandur 939
Just hope they don't forget to check in with FDJ before spending too much time on this, that seems to the real hurdle here

People are already bringing up all the players that came to Chelsea when Man Utd were in for them.
