Some things that fit my template, but one that I know will irritate me if he joins.

  • Technical excellence.
  • Ability to do ordinary things to a very high level.
  • Uncomplicated. Moves the ball quickly, decisively and accurately.
  • A competent, not excellent, defender.
  • Two footedness is a great attribute for any player but a near essential one for fullbacks.

Personally think he's above competent as a defender. He's no Ashley Cole by any stretch of the imagination so wouldn't fall into an 'excellent' category but I'd probably label his defending in the 'good' range. His defensive metrics and stats are strong and he does seem to possess a good defensive awareness which is key for me. I personally don't think competent or average would cut it as a defender to be able to play within the back 3, whereas you can get away with that as a wing back.

Completely agree with you on the too footedness aspect, it should be a minimum requirement for any footballer to be honest. The one thing I would say watching some clips and videos of him is that whilst I wouldn't class him as two footed, he does seem more than comfortable to play with his right foot, certainly more than Chilwell and Alonso from what I have seen. I have actually seen a few people on social media believing he could cover on the right side too. Not sure about that but I don't think he'd leave us restricted with an inability to use a weaker foot.

if de jong is coming, jorginho is surely leaving. but theres almost no rumour about him leaving, so i dont know...i doubt that the de jong stuff is true.

If De Jong is coming it means we aren't extending Jorginho's contract. Not necessarily he's leaving.

Gilmour will likely be sold. Ruben up in the air.

Jorginho/De Jong/Kante/Kovacic/Gallagher

For me, I dont want us to force buy a RWB just for the sake of buying. If there isnt a good RWB available may aswell play RLC there, he is comfortable here and he is not looking to move. He does an ok job there, we have to remember that whoever we sign they will probably here for 3+ years. Next year most of the deadwood are out of contract, no need to be adding more to the list. Also remember that Livramento's buy back can be triggered next season.
