Looks like we dodged a big fucking bullet not getting Hakimi, his agent said today the fact Chels are CL winners threw Hakimi off.

It does make sense a bit. After Liverpool won CL and PL it was clear that their circle is over and imo for Werner it made more sense to join us than them because for the future we have most exciting project. I think I said it more than a year ago. Apart from Real you don't win b2b CL.

It sounds weird but if your major goal is to win trophies it does make more sense to join some exciting project over team that just won tons of trophies because naturally they will fall.

By saying that I am sure Chelsea is just on the beginning with CL last season. We have most exciting team since early Roman days and if we get Haaland we would expect top trophies in years to come.

It is ridiculous but I can't blame La Liga. Messi's popularity is a huge driver for their worldwide value. Losing him could cost them a lot in their next TV contract. Obviously they will soon have to face that issue anyway but I can understand them wanting to stave it off.

Logical but still bullshit, I dont care whom you are, rules are rules......otherwise just bin them.

massive valuation drops dead ahead cap'n

these are (as of NOW) the only quality players (or ones with potential) who will be under 30yo by (or right after) seasons end. I refuse to list Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as one, plus he has massive injury issues

Alisson
Fabinho (cunt)
Andrew Robertson

Naby Keïta  (has been a bust so far)
Diogo Jota
Harry Wilson    (unproven, and just to show you how times flies, he turns 25 this season)
Joe Gomez    (major question mark after massive injuries)
Trent Alexander-Arnold  (they are fucked if he continues to slump downward)
Ibrahima Konaté  (they best pray he is not a bust)
Curtis Jones
Harvey Elliott    (unproven)

I have been saying since February 2020 (when their skid started after being a machine for ages, and that was pre-injuries) that they are facing a huge reckoning due to ageing club and thus loss of massive revenue via sales

I have a hard time seeing Levy selling. Who could Spuds possibly sign to replace not only Kane’s huge goal haul but also his playmaking?

They’ll finish 10th if they sell him. And they really can’t afford slipping further away from European football with that new stadium and with how much the pandemic fucked them more than most clubs.

Don’t think they can really afford to sell him even for £120m.

You wouldn't want a miserable player in your club. Does more harm than good. Look what happened with Erikson on his final Spuds days.

True, but Kane seems like the last person who would sulk and moan. He seems to genuinely love that club. Plus, he’s the “face of England” and has that golden boy image where the whole of English media loves him. Would he completely tarnish that image by moaning and forcing his way out? Maybe, but I don’t see it. Think he’ll put his head down and get in with it.

Modric gave them one big final season despite wanting out, likewise Hazard us, Ronaldo United etc.

The majority just get on with it.

Know him as a player, but is Berger Romano level or below that?

Anyway, if true. I could see us maybe doing that (isn't it £150m?) As I think we may go for just Håland then fill the gaps with loan/youth players. Additionally, if there are some players Dortmund are interested of ours we could maybe get some sort of swap in.

Anyway, with just Håland we could do:

RWB: Liva/Zappa

CM: Baka/Gallagher

CB: Sarr/Ampadu/Guehi

Only issue after that is GK2 but there is typically someone knocking about who you can get for cheap/on a free for a year or two.

Zappacosta? 😱

Bakayoko? 😱😱

Sarr? 😱😱😱

Bayern tried to fill their gaps with such mediocre players(Sarr, Rocha, Chupo-Moting,), didn’t take them anywhere..

Gallagher seems good but I feel he is not fit for deep rule for Jorgi/Kante role but not sure he can do wide AM either.

On the contrary, I think Gallagher out of all of our options would be the best suitor for the CM role.

And he can pretty much cover all the positions around the midfield and top, possibly fullback too at a push (Fabian Delph style).

Fergie use to always have 2/3 players of that type in his squad.

Gallagher is indeed very talented and tidy on the ball. But then so is Billy. Should definitely be given a chance in preseason to see if TT can make use of him.

I watched five of his games during the second half of the season, just to watch him. In a couple he looked good, but at times not doing much to position himself to be a part of the build up. The other games it was not easy to find him on the field. Just jogging around out there. I think his lack of quickness in pressing will hurt him with Tuchel. Not speed, but he doesn't seem to be quick on his toes in making challenges, just token pressure like Pulisic does most of the time. Pulisic seems to be improving in that area. CG needs to step that up to impress Tuchel.

The tricky thing with Gallagher is whether Tuchel would trust him enough to use him extensively throughout the season or will he just be another backup like Gilmour was last season. The fact that Tuchel gave the OK to send Gilmour on loan to get more playing time is already somewhat telling. If Gallagher is just gonna be backup, then there's gonna be a problem because Tuchel will then just rotate between Kante, Kovacic and Jorginho and that's not gonna be enough for the entire season.
