Not really, since Conte's last season the only injury prone player we've signed has been Pulisic. The board learns fast...

They're good for a laugh though. That Crimewatch intro to Hazard laughing with Zouma was right up there with one of my favourite football related stories of the year. Additionally, the back to the future chalk board explanation of how Messi is going to get paid was also pretty funny.

Kounde's shortness Illustrated in another fashion

Verratti is Kounde

Verratti's GF, Jessica Aidi (ten cm taller at 1.75m, so hardly some massive glamazon) is a NORMAL CB

or we can really see the difference with Verratti's ex, Cindy Bruna (who is basically almost as tall as I am, maybe a half cm shorter or so at 182.5cm

the difference between these 2 girls and Verratti is the difference between Kounde and AC (current GF)

or Kounde and Sule or Botman or VVD or Tapsoba, etc, etc (ex GF)

So, if Zouma and Giroud leave, as reported, that leaves us with a first team squad of:

*denotes multiple positions

GK: Mendy, Kepa

CB: Silva, AC, Rudi, Dave*, James*

WB's: James*, Dave*, Chilwell, Alonso, Emerson

CM: Jorgi, Kante, Kova, Mount*(?)

AM: Puli, Harvetz*, Mount*, Werner*, CHO, Ziyech

CF: Tammy, Harvetz*, Werner*

Squad size: 20

Squad is strangely lopsided imo. For me, I have the following opinion:

1) AM, we have 1-2 too many players

 2) CM is arguably 1 CM down (unless there is a push to move Mount back, which I could see as a long term goal)

3) LWB has 1 too many

4) RWB has 1 too few if you don't count Dave (which I don't really, as I see him now as a RCB who is emergency cover (e.g. No3) for RWB/LWB.)

5) GK is one too few (although only at GK2/3 level)

6) CB has arguably 1 too few (although I would be ok if Guehui/Ampadu are brought back for CB5/6.

7) CF lacks quality and numbers if you play Kai/Werner in AM roles.

I'll give Veratti something, he certainly has a type.

Transfer News: Tiemoue Bakayoko exit blocked by Chelsea

https://astamfordbridgetoofar.com/2021/07/10/thomas-tuchel-blocks-summer-exit-for-forgotten-Chelsea-midfield-star-report/

According to transfer news from Mirror, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has blocked an exit for Tiemoue Bakayoko. A proposed loan deal to AC Milan is now on the rocks as Tuchel wants to give the French midfielder a chance in the squad.

Bakayoko burst onto the scene at AS Monaco in 2016/17. His impressive showings prompted Chelsea to splash a decent £40m on him in 2017. Despite having a number of opportunities, the Frenchman failed to impress and struggled to assert himself under Antonio Conte in his debut season.

It got so bad to the point that every time he stepped on the field, he committed an error that would end up costing the side. He has since been sent out on temporary spells thrice. First, he went to AC Milan in 2018/19, then returned to Monaco for 2019/20 and finally he spent the last season at Napoli.

Even this season, he was expected to go out on loan or permanently. AC Milan had proposed another loan deal for him. But it seems that Tuchel is not going to allow an exit for Bakayoko (h/t Mirror). The German manager wants to reintegrate him into the side and give him another chance.

Chelsea call Kenedy back for preseason, leave Flamengo hanging — report

Who will blink first?

https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/Chelsea-fc-transfer-rumours-news/2021/7/10/22570570/Chelsea-call-kenedy-back-for-preseason-leave-flamengo-hanging-report

Liverpool v Chelsea: UEFA Super Cup Previews

Flamengo’s “cautiously optimistic” attempts to acquire Kenedy are turning less cautiously pessimistic, despite their charm offensive aimed at “seducing” the 25-year-old to stay in Brazil. They may have convinced him that it would be a good thing for his career, but Chelsea are not too keen on just letting him stay there. In fact, according to Globo Esporte, Chelsea have called him back to London for the start of preseason training, just like all other non-vacationing players and Loan Army members.

That said, Chelsea do not have a set plan for Kenedy, it would appear, though we reportedly want to arrange a transfer rather than just another loan. Flamengo have not put forward a formal bid yet, while Chelsea are apparently happy to wait until the end of the transfer window on September 2 to find a solution.

Should Flamengo get their act together and put their money where their promises to their fans are, perhaps Kenedy will end up joining them at some point. But for now, this looks to be not happening.

Bakayoko. Drinkwater. If Conte's last season was anything to go by Tuchel should be texting Havertz thanks for helping him win CL but he's moving him on this window.

Bakayoko played a lot that one season he was here. 43 games all comps. 29 PL starts then 5 sub appearances. Rest in cup/CL/whatever else. How is that injury prone?

Drinkwater, maybe but again, was never ever going to be a regular so if he is injury prone, fair enough.

Like who? I mean who out of all our players actually misses huge amounts of games a season and are constantly injured in our squad year in, year out? Pulisic is really the only one and he’s been here 2 seasons and even then its slightly overstated.

Cant think of many more who actually miss out on a lot of football each season every season due to injuries. I get we’ve had a few who have had freak injuries like ACLs or knee ligaments or whatever but suffering one of those doesn’t exactly make anyone injury prone (ie Gilmour, Zouma, RLC, CHO, Rudiger) so would be daft to consider them in there or anyone similar coming who’s been unfortunate to suffer from that circumstances.

Even Kante, he’s had a few knocks here and there last 2-3 seasons or so but still plays 80-90% of games every year and most internationals so hardly injury prone although I do remember you posting that we should consider selling him as he was getting a few knocks however long ago…. which I think you’ll agree was madness now.

Not really, the likes of Mundo Deportivo and Marca in general are usually trash but they do have few reliable journos like Jose Felix Diaz and Edu Polo. COPE are still seen as the most reliable Spanish media akin like The Athletic in UK.
