The board is right this time, Lampard is a gullible self proclaimed nationalist no other reason why guys like Zakaria or natural centre backs like Upamecano aren't mentioned. Instead we get talked about an average England player who Lampard wants to convert into a CB. Same thing can be said about Chilwell but gave him the benefit of the doubt in that one because there were no other alternatives considering the Reguilon buy back option.

"Gullible self proclaimed nationalist" ...

Bet you hate mount dont you?

I never wanted Chilwell. Wanted Telles with us for ages.

I also was worried that FL saw himself as the saviour to the England team. And try to make us a all HG club. And while i think both Mason and Rice are daft as brushes I see they are proper ballers.

Rice is very vocal which we dont have anyone who is apart from Jorgi on occasions. I think Rice could be good for us.

Literally only 1 out of the 6 signings was english I think , naturally the academy boys are English so that’s irrelevant

Rice is very vocal yes but he has the same weakness with Jorginho: lack of pace.

Read the exact same like a few days ago. Fabrizio said its done, so its done. No idea why some dubious news outlets keep beating a dead horse.

Mendy's agent has said same to a paper in Senegal. Seems like Tomori loan is a separate conversation

And who in the club is having the doubts? The scouts, Marina, Cech?

Apart from maybe questioning the cost, not sure the club have much to stand on when they are also the ones who recommended/bought the likes of Drinkwater, Zappacosta, Bakayoko, Kepa etc in past years. And of course, who could forget arguably the biggest blunder of all when they sold De Bruyne because the manager deemed him to be bad after 2-3 bad games.

The problem with Jorginho isn't just the lack of pace. It's also the fact that he's very unathletic and not the most physical of players. Two years on after joining us and he still looks like a bamboo stick.

Rice may not be the quickest of players around (he's hardly a snail either like Alonso) but am sure that he is much more physical than Jorginho. Moreover in the DM position that Rice plays in, the lack of pace is fine as long as it is compensated with intelligence and positioning to cover defensively. Makelele or Mikel, for instance, were hardly the quickest around, but their intelligence and defensive positioning were largely spot on.

Another reason that Mendy is well liked.

“The ideal is to come to a final decision quickly, one way or another, but there is no problem with Edouard, he’s a top guy, he poses no problems, in fact the opposite.”

“This morning again in training he was a driving force, he communicates with everyone, he talks a lot, he is still the leader in the changing room. IDK what will happen, if it happens, well much the better for him, but his behavior here is fantastic.”

They played on more pragmatic system than Lampard's, so their lack of pace might not really matters. I can't say the same when we're playing the high line, our back four would still got  exposed against pacey players.

Is this still possible?

Chelsea must register Mendy by 12pm on Friday if he is to feature against Liverpool on Sunday, and the glovesman’s agent, Djily Dieng, announced on Thursday that the transfer could go through today with a deal agreed.

“The two parties have come to an agreement,” Dieng told Senegalese newspaper Stades. “All that’s left is the formalisation. It could even be done tomorrow, if all goes well.

“Afterwards, the player himself will come to finalise everything, including having his medical examination.”

Rice is not just English, he is a Chelsea Academy product. I think every club with an academy should want their own, especially when they have proven at a young age they can play in the league. I wonder how much contact Lampard had with Academy kids when he was playing?
