"I can’t say what I think about the referee. It’s all the outside talk and outside influence. You can read what they’re saying about the controversy on Harry Maguire and giving us penalties.

piss off

and that motherfucker Shaw (he needs to be fined for this)

LIED

and said referee Attwell told Maguire that Hudson-Odoi's handball against Man Utd 'was a penalty'

that was a flat out lie, Atwell NEVER said that

Even the German sky commentator pointed out that Greenwood directed the ball with his hand onto CHO's hand from where it sprung back to Greenwoods arm again. if attackers are now allowed to use their arms then fine, just call it handball

This was Girouds fault. Absolutely unacceptable the pass he played in this situation. Its asif he has zero football intelligence except shooting.

We can argue all day and will likely never agree on this but I'll just say this, since we're talking about a conventional LB being asked to play in a slightly unfamiliar role of a LWB, maybe some slack should be given especially when said player has only played 1 game here and 1 game there? Even Tuchel has pointed this out and I don't think Chilwell has been a complete disaster in the LWB role either.

If Tuchel wanted to rest Alonso, why didn't he just do it against Southampton last weekend? Or given we have a decent amount of rest days between Atletico and United (4) and United and Liverpool (3) games, why didn't Tuchel just play him today and say rest him against Everton?

I didn't say I expected more from Kante with his passing apart from just being more careful with it. We had no real control in the first half because United decided to press us and they disrupted us well. Jorginho won't have made a difference considering he's bad when under pressure. Getting pressed and losing control of games have been a long standing problem with us, even when we had Fabregas in the team. We don't have a team filled with players who are comfortable on the ball when under pressure.

Then what's your thinking behind Tuchel not playing Jorginho today then?

Atletico only mostly pressed well in the first 10 minutes or so but apart from that, they were mostly content to sit back and defend with the 6-3-1 shape. Kante came on after Giroud scored to help manage Atletico's attacks.

Kante only just came back from injury during that Spurs game period and hence why he didn't start. Jorginho-Kovacic worked well in that game's first half because Spurs were just so passive and sat off us. But when they decided to press high up in the second half, we lost control of the game.

Thats a poor excuse really. When its roles reversed and Alonso has filled in as a LB in a flat 4 despite being a wingback under Frank particularly, it wouldn’t be mentioned or your whole giving people slack thing either it seems to be very selective when its players people prefer over others.

Also if Alonso was on instead of Chilwell and played like Chilwell did today, this thread would probably be totally different (not even debatable as there seems to be a massive percentage of users who are very selective in their criticism on here for other players because they “dont like them” or “think they should be replaced” yet if other people in the same positions play not well, its not mentioned. Which is precisely why I think if it were Alonso who played like this today, it would be a very different thread).... so thats the last I am gonna say about it now.

I agree the team do crumble under pressure at times but someone like Jorginho who is always making himself available and is confident to take the ball under pressure helps that. Hes always showing for it, or telling people where to play it. Love him or loathe him, in possession he is a necessity at times. As is Kovacic, who can also dribble out of a press.

I am surprised Tuchel didn’t play Jorginho, we have played better football with Frank and Tuchel having Jorginho, Kovacic and Mount in the starting 11. I just hope that Tuchel isnt going to go around the way Frank did by shoehorning Kante in instead of Kovacic, Jorginho or Mount at times as we seem to handle the ball better when those 3 all play. Like playing him v Southampton was a mistake. I understand maybe he was worried about United’s transitions but again if we are going to impose ourselves on the game and dictate possession, be it v a Man United or a Stoke City or whoever, Jorginho will be key until we find another player who can do the role better and maybe offer more physically.

As bad as Conte's run of results against Wenger's Arsenal!

Or our general results against Kenny Dalglish's Liverpool.

We have bogey teams and bogey managers.

How is it selective when by the time Lampard came in, Alonso had played in a back 4 for an entire season? How is it selective when selected as a LB under Lampard, Alonso was consistently dropping clangers? If I'm being selective, it's because there's already a big sample size of Alonso playing as a LB in a back 4 compared to Chilwell playing as a LWB in a back 3 now at the club.

That's very debatable to say the least.
