As I said in the comment to which you originally replied, I don't think Ian s ready but if it's a choice between recalling him or Emerson, I vote Ian. I get there by asking  the same question you have in respect of each player; is he good enough. In Ian's case my answer is, "Maybe not. Certainly not now.",  whereas in Emerson's case my answer is a flat, "No". Since maybe is better than no, I choose Ian of the two but I would prefer a different solution.

We should just pick Digne on loan.

I mean if Theo Hernandez is available for 60 million and AC Milan are willing to sell....I think it's a no brainer.

That is if the funds are available of course.

I strongly doubt Ac milan would sell one of their most valuable squad member at this time of the season, at which they are competing steadily for the league title and champions league places.

What was the timeline for his return? Can we expect him to be ready for the new season? I have seen some pictures this week that he was training with the reserved outside.

The other question obviously is how affecting the injury will be on him.

I would assume he'll be ready for pre season if he's already outside doing some ball work on his own.

I could be wrong but I think I read a while ago that what the club did delaying his surgery for the injury he had was a positive and should aid him in his recovery.

Ultimately though we need a genuine option to compete with him, especially if Alonso moves on. I like the idea of Perisic on a free, it sounds an incredibly smart signing for the short term.

No idea why Cucurella was bought when we already had Chilwell fit again.

Two strong players in every position. Chilwell hit form so now he should play and Cucu should sit and watch for a while. This is the competition we need to arrive eventually at a strong XI that wins games.

wtf

that may mean his entire season is over

Probably. Takes at least 3 months to recover from surgery. They will need to open up his thigh by the length of it and reattach the muscle and/or tendons. Worst cases I have heard of needed  years but those were old ppl. With a bit of luck Chilly misses not only the WC but also the euros in 2024. goddamn our luck

Complete hamstring tear.

Raises questions as to how this could've been avoided.

There must be some complete fuckwits at the club to allow these level of hamstring injuries to occur on a regular basis.

We seem to be really good at signing injury prone players these days. People blaming Potter for this but come on, the lad has hardly played and it is not Potter's fault if a man tears his hamstring. Maybe even in preseason we shouldn't play our "real" players to help them stay fit too!

I was already calling France "questionable" as a contender, and will have to add England as questionable as well. The losses in the fullback positions alone will be hard to overcome.

France think will be alright given their mental depth
