Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk I agree, the bar isn't set too high although I think I've always liked Marcos better than many here. Superblue 6,372
His pace and athleticism I think will be seen as a big difference this coming season. We attacked far too much down the right hand side last season and not only left us lop sided and predictable but on the right hand side we also had two right footed players in Willian and either Azpi or James both looking to get into the same crossing position. I believe that Lampard's recruitment has revolved around arming ourselves with players that can attack all the different attacking channels and positions, making us much more difficult to defend against. The left hand side I would expect to see Chilwell and then Pulisic or CHO and the right hand side James/Azpi and Ziyech or Havertz. So the two attacking players playing on the opposite flank to their strong foot, with the opportunities to cut or drift inside for a shot or cross from a different angle and two full backs prepared to overlap and provide the width. Just like Bayern who we should be emulating. The high pressing, the wing play, the overlapping fullbacks, and quick transitions. Hoping Lamps models his style of play that way. Magic Lamps 11,692
BC really sounds daft as a brush in his first interview, using "massive", "stuff" and "you know" twice in every sentence. I hope his not as stupid as Barkley on the pitch. killer1257

OneMoSalah 8,886
He can sound as daft as he wants as long as he delivers on the pitch. Thats the important thing, why people care what someone sounds like or what their IQ is or who they kick about with or how many cars they have or whatever when their paid to kick a football is beyond me, just freakishly weird. As long as he doesn't do anything stupid off the park and does well on it, I dont care about anything else. That should be the criteria for footballers. Nothing else really. He will be an improvement on our other LBs. 50m not bad compared to the 80m we were first told to pay. mkh and Johnnyeye

Hutcho 8,443
Harry kane sounds like a retard but he still scores shit tons of goals every season. And chillwell sounds like pretty much all English 22 year old footballers killer1257
BlueLyon 9,359
Haha I was not super excited about him either, but to point out stuff like how he talks, he must be stupid? Are we still in age when people with tattoos are considered crazy then? No one should ever judge people by appearance. If for nothing else, for your own sake because underestimating others can put you in a very bad position. Magic Lamps 11,692
I am not saying that the way he sounds has any relevance for his success. It is just that this signing has felt like the Drinkwater & Barkley ones from the very beginning and this corny interview very much adds to that. I obvoiusly hope he will turn out better. No one was talking about appearance tho.

You do have the odd exception here and there like Ian Wright or Peter Crouch. All that matters, is what they do on the pitch. Let's hope Chillwells feet do the talking.
