Don't have a problem with Mikel staying as he knows his role and knows he's a situational player who does a very specific job for us. It's Ramires that I'd like to see sold and replaced with a top class player.

mikel would be a good squad player but it creates massive questions on rambo's gametime.

i personally would prefer bringing in mikel to rambo if we have a 1-0 lead to protect. rambo gives unnecesaary freekicks in dangerous positions plus mikel's reading of the game is better in that situation.

mvg is another option. would definitely create a situation like last season where players dont get enough play time and want out.

I seriously doubt that. He is a good player in the prime of his career. He has won it all at Chelsea and has been a great servant for the club, regardless of the bull*** lobbed his way. I read somewhere he's 8th all time in Premier League appearances for Chelsea. Out of respect, I think it's best if both parties parted ways. Many Nigerians are already complaining and suggesting he leave Chelsea.

A guy in the prime of his career who has been utterly usurped by other signings and is still happy to say just seems totally unambitious to me - ironically that's what has defined his playing style here. The myth of this colossus of the Nigerian national team has surely been put to bed too with his recent showings.

The likes of Van Ginkel and Chalobah need gametime and this guy needs to show the desire to be an important first-team member for a decent side rather than a bit-part player for us. We replaced him with Matic in January.
