You would expect Azpi to play as CB if we're going three at the back and yet there are three other CB's there as well? And why on Earth is there Willian instead of Pedro or Pulisic Because Pedro was injured for some time and Willian has been training a lot since he came back

!Hazard! 3,394
Actually expecting Alonso to have a decent game given how he'll have three centrebacks covering his snail-esque movement. In fact I'm more worried about Azpi as RWB, he simply doesnt have the characteristics to play that position Vesper

Hutcho 8,443
Loving all the pessimism on here. Geeez I like it. Without kante we need the defensive help and alonso has proven himself to be a very good wing back.Only slightly strange one is Willian. But in lamps I trust. So let's go! kellzfresh, Atomiswave, bigbluewillie and 1 other

That is the best line up because having both Alonso and Azpi, who belong to the worst RBs in the PL,in a back four wold be a disaster. Now, we have enough CBs to cover their mistakes. Magic Lamps 11,692
Its an interesting cal going with a back 5. For Mount and Alonso I think it is perfect but no idea how Jorginho and Azpi will cope with their positions. I am curious how it will pan out. At least its not as predictable as what Sarri did with us. Lamps had plenty of time to work on this over the intl break with many palyers remaining on the trainings ground so maybe he will get it right this time. If you want to protect your fb you play defensive winger and problem solved.
Superblue 6,372
Don't mind this lineup. It shows at the very least that Lampard isn't blind to our defensive issues and he's trying to address it. MoroccanBlue 5,385
I think it's to counter Wolves' 5 at the back system. We tend to struggle against sides that play it.

We have the squad to go full 343 if need be and do well with it. This means he is potent our Lamps, you cant stick to your predictable ways always. Whether it pays dividens today is another thing....good luck to us.
Pizy 18,961
Just by having more numbers back there we theoretically should be more secure defensively so that's a good thing I guess. I just worry about our attackers being more isolated. Not big on Mason starting out wide, either.

Well if Alonso is really pushing forward like during Conte days then Mount will cut inside and play in more central role Superblue

communicate 2,703
The amount of hatred toward Alonso as wb is mind-boggling. We won the league with Alonso as wb. Azpi side is more concerning, Azpi is not a wb Stats
