The Conte Thread

I almost hate to say this but Conte really is similar to Mourinho. They're both only interested in winning - not a bad quality to have, mind - and nothing else. When things don't go their way, they'll start moaning, kicking up a fuss and throwing toys out of their pram. Conte's disconnection - if that's the right word - in the second half of 2017/18 is an example. Didn't get the players he wanted in January, we weren't challenging for the title or CL and he just completely checked out. Conte, similar to or just like Mourinho, is great at getting the team as a whole motivated and managing them but is not good or not bothered at man managing the players on a personal level when required.

Jose's a pussycat compared to Conte.

Jose just sulks and throws passive aggressive digs if he genuinely has a bad window. Conte goes to war with club heirachys even when he has a decent window (this one at Inter) and got players he wanted but were not first choice (2017 here). He's like a football manager version of Veruca Salt in that regard, which makes it all the more mind-blowing given how good he is getting not so great teams punching (Juve in his first two seasons, Italy, 16/17 Chelsea).

I honestly believe if Conte was fluent in English, his behaviour in the second season would have been 10 times worse.

I hope right now some people will understand Conte makes his usual excuses for poor results. Its sad that back in the day many fans were buying those excuses and coming up with the usual bullshit: "if only the had the support from the board".

Mr. Frank is showing how its done. He is working limited resources and trying to find solutions without getting expensive players.

In hindsight I actually think the board probably did the worst thing out of the three options and compromised with his plan Bs.

As soon as the safe bet Plan As were unattainable Marina, Emenalo or whoever should have looked at the his previous transfer record, brought Rudiger and another striker not named Morata, maybe Auba and told him to use the academy for the rest of the depth like as you said Lampard is doing.

But what kind of message does Conte send to his players when he says things like that (e.g. We got players from Sassuolo & Cagliari)? Imagine Lampard making similar excuses by saying we got young players, this team lack true winners etc! Inter spent a lot this past summer and brought in a lot of players, all this under FFP. Conte knew what he was getting into in the first place and it wasn't like he didn't get his players.

Perhaps but saying imagine Lampard doing this or doing that doesnt mean anything because Conte was also like that to a degree at Juventus and won X amount of trophies because of it. Managers have different styles, man management techniques and whatever else no two managers are identical. Some can keep 11 players happy, some can barely keep 5 happy...

If you read the quote its hardly as if hes said the players are shite or that, he said they played for Sassuolo and Cagliari before. They are now at Inter who are a much bigger club with higher expectations etc much like what Mount, Abraham and Tomori are experiencing here. Okay its never been publically said which can go both ways with players depending on how they are but if Inter go out, react and win there next game 3, 4 or 5-0 do you think they guys will be complaining about it then? Or the board might decide to free up funding for him although with the squad he has they can still get a CL space for next season easily.

We all know he likes a moan and I can see why people would be worried perhaps but it might work for him, they might react, they might sign 3 or 4 new players.. who knows? Plus I would imagine getting beat 3-2 would of annoyed him more than anything to do with the squad, I am sure Inter have lost their last 4 away CL games.

I never said Conte said his players are shit etc. Just think it doesn't send out a positive message. He has good, talented players in his squad and while they may not be experienced winners, I would like think they at least have the winning mentality, the desire to win trophies.

Does Conte expect Inter to go sign all the experienced winners out there? There's only so many players who have multiple trophies and are experienced winners that a club can buy.

Inter are operating under the FFP rules - they got punished for it not too long ago, IIRC. So they certainly can't go out there and spend 150-200 million on players without offloading some. As I said, Conte knew what he was getting into. So, his moaning seems daft.

If Conte is seeing eye-to-eye with the Inter board, then I doubt he would be moaning about things in the media. Inter have the FFP to mind about. There's only so many players that they can buy and they bought quite a few in the summer. Conte is daft if he thought Inter were gonna spend like 150-200 million on players and/or were gonna buy a new squad of players in summer.

Conte already has a dodgy record in the Champions League before yesterday and perhaps rather than constantly moaning about not being happy with his squad, he should maybe look at his own tactics, how he sets up his team etc. Can't keep on blaming others every time.

Yeah its madness. Such a disgrace to see in all fairness, never mind in football. I still remember when Neil Lennon and Niall McGinn got sent bullets when they were at Celtic and the whole circus around that, not sure why these idiots feel compelled to do this sort of shit. Italian football has enough problems with racism and now this sort of thing happening, doesnt bode well for it.

Top of the league.

Yeah again top of the table. Pretty impressive with all the injuries they have (missing two best midfielders Sensi and Barella). They will surely buy someone in January and they have great chance to win title. It's going to be hard for them to keep Martinez I think Barca will go for him.
