Essien19 1,415
Sergi Domínguez @FutbolSergi #MUFC held talks with Jose Mourinho again. Jose made it clear: Real Madrid is his top priority and he needs time to make the decision.Sergi Domínguez @FutbolSergi A man very close to Florentino Perez, @jpedrerol, says Mourinho leaves the door open for a return to Madrid. He knows he'll return one day.I fully understand Jose. He isn't running away from his demons, he has to make it right at the end of the day. Hope that means that after the Madrid job, he will come back to us for a third time. A man can dream! Johnnyeye and stroey
Ossie the King 634
I agree but you are making it sound like we were 6th and not 16th at the time when he was sacked. I'd put my money and say that every other manager in the league would have had more points after 15 games with this squad than Mourinho has managed. I too didn't expect us to successfully defend the title but that said, with the poor quality of other top teams we definitely should have at least challenged for it this year, let alone achieving top 4. Hell even if we sacked Mourinho a bit earlier I think with a good winning streak we could have done it.And Jose clearly wasn't faultless in all of this. I just think we'd have been better as a club sticking with him, recommitting to his vision going forward and go again next year. Instead we're completely rudderless now and there's a total disconnect between the fans and the club. That to me is the worst part of all of this. stroey and Essien19

That to me is the worst part of all of this.Who knows - maybe they did ask him for his vision, along with other managers they were scouting and didn't like what he had to say? Jose's brand of football is typically successful, but never beautiful, except a few rare moments.Maybe, Roman, still hasn't scratched that itch of wanting beautiful football?I guess we will never know what really happens unless Jose and Roman both release autobiographies and the truth would probably lay somewhere in the middle between them... stroey and Ossie the King

petre.ispirescu 4,928
http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/dec/22/devil-and-jose-mourinhoBasically what we, the glory hunters and the ones that should have no opinion because we do not attend games, have been saying for months now. Good read.Would advise you to read Diego Torres' book on Mourinho as well. It's like the 2015 Mourinho has put in practice that book which was released in 2014. GodZola 630
Pochetino is of the Bielsa school. Him and pep are. This is why I wanted to have someone like Bielsa to prepare the grounds for someone else to take over. But Bielsa is like Mourinho, too crazy personality and these are not good for long term. Prefare someone like Pochetino, so that's a good shout out for someone like him. The only problem would be his experience in Europe but who cares about that just as long as we can get back on track.I've heard of Bielsa, don't they call him 'the mad one' or something of that description, lol!I'm surprised there's little or no weight being put behind Pochettino, maybe its just me putting to much emphasis on our talented youth....Not sure no experience in Europe matters, José made the transition very easily at Porto. Belgiannutt 3,201
Any manager we hire, in fact any manager at any top club, will be paid an astronomical wage and they will also (correctly) expect millions to be spent buying players.Pep would be paid almost the same but has already said we need TEN new players. I imagine we'd buy these players. If Simeone came in, he would expect the same. What's amazing is that Mourinho DIDN'T get this in the summer yet didn't make more of it. He didn't complain, he didn't complain about Cech being sold against his wishes once the season started. He would have had every right to lambast the board for not backing him and not having more ambition but he didn't. That shows remarkable restraint in my opinion. But yes, he's a millionaire so.....stuff. You're ignoring the fact Mourinho WAS backed in the transferwindows before. I'm not gonna post all the names again but there were 13 players in 5 transferwindows brought in. An investment of 306 million euros was made. You can moan all you want about the last transferwindow it's still not a valid excuse for being 16th in the league, 1 point off relegation after 16 games.I could understand your point if say we sold some of our starters over the summer and didn't replace them properly but that's not the case here. The only players that we sold over the summer were squad players and we adequately replaced them.Cech out - Begovic inDrogba out - Falcao inCuadrado out - Pedro inLuis out - rahman in

stroey 2,525
You're ignoring the fact Mourinho WAS backed in the transferwindows before. Lol anyone who knows Mourinho's history would say that's not true. He is very competitive and would never start a season with clear leaks in the squad but we did. Let's start with summer 2013-14 - He wanted a striker, everybody knows Jose won't start a season without a proper world class striker but in the end we got an overweight and old (but still had some class) Eto'o to be our savior. That's basically giving your rivals a handicap on you. 2013-14 winter transfer window - we got 1 target Matic, but we got no striker.2014-15 summer was good - we got our targets.2014-15 winter window - only change was Schurrle (who wanted to leave for game time) for Cuadrado but it was clear Jose wanted a midfielder - why? He always plays Cesc as 10 and the squad player Ramires as CDM next to Matic. He knew Ramires lacked technical abilities but a midfield in big games with Oscar and Cesc was a no go. 2015-16 summer window - he clearly stated that he wanted a midfielder and defender, but he was not backed at all. We got Baba without a preseason with us, Djilobodji and Hector on deadline day and let Cech go to Arsenal - that summed up the backing he got from the board in the summer. So basically, since summer 2014-15 we did not improve the squad at all. Jose has not been backed for a full year with a clear hole in central midfield, our starting right back as 31/32 year old and our starting CB as 34/35 year old. petre.ispirescu 4,928
Going to Real Madrid. They said it tonight at Cadena Ser. Already negociating with Florentino Perez. Rafa Benitez will get the sack in the coming days, he's lost the dressing room, Isco won't speak to him, James is unhappy, Ronaldo walked into the dressing room after Madrid's game against Rayo and threatened to leave the team if Benitez is kept in charge. Mourinho urged Florentino Perez to speed up the negociations as Man United have offered him a contract and he has until January to give a response. kellzfresh and Essien19
