The Mourinho Thread

And how does that fit with our sponsors Hackett?

Isn't his image linked to our sponsors, the primary one being Adidas. Again there are a lot of marketing factors at play that have nothing to do with this pseudo-psychological assessment.

You might want him in Armani, but he's obliged to wear Hackett and Adidas gear a certain number of times per season in each competition. Was Steve Jobs sponsored by Fruit of the Loom?

He threw on a club tracksuit for the two biggest games of the season, the most formal occasions for a manager, Champions league quarter & semi-finals. IF there was such a policy (i.e wear Hacket, adidas or Jaguar at this particular time) those games rule out such a theory. Ancelotti used to wear our official club 'suits' rather than the informal training jumpers, so Mourinho is rejecting suits outright, let there be no mistake here.

Mourinho was sacked in a tracksuit, he wore a tracksuit in his last game for Chelsea. When things are not going well.. the suits disappear, and reappear for charity games, ironically. Mourinho shaves his head when he's not happy (Summer 2007 Ben haim, sidwell unveilings & the sheva situation), and again this season when things were looking grim.

In hard times, the hair and the suits go.

I don't know what is happening about the way Mourinho dresses in Chelsea. But in Madrid it was reported Mourinho didn't like the suits and he didn't use them many times (some papers say Mourinho had to pay fines to Madrid for not using the suits).

After that Madrid changed the spanish brand they had for Giudici

Interesting. Not surprised they fined him tbh, we should do the same. No big european club has their managers in jumpers/tracksuits for important games, especially when the manager is such a big personality and represents the club itself. In italy it's part of the culture to dress well, Mourinho was hungry for success after being sacked, he was always in suits and designer gear over there.

I remember when at the tipping point of their professional relationship and Jose's final few months at Madrid when Pepe said Mourinho should "respect" Casillas as he's an institution to Real Madrid.

And Mourinho cooly replied in a press conference the next day :

"It's very easy to analyse the thing with Pepe. His problem has a name, and that name is Raphael Varane. That's the whole story. I only said something about Pepe because you asked me to talk about him. You don't need to be particularly clever – it's enough to be a normal guy like me - to understand that this is a case of frustration. It isn't easy for a man aged 31 with a lot of experience behind him to be blown out of the water by a kid of 19. And he's a great kid. I've been brave enough to play the kid. It's very simple. The problem is very simple. Pepe's life has changed"

That's ridiculous.

I disagree with you and Bir_CFC that he needs to wear a suit to sell or represent properly Chelsea's image. to start with, I've never liked the idea of suits in a football match, but I respect it. His clothes don't represent his image or Chelsea's - except for the few people that give a fuck about what the manager is wearing. Thankfully those aren't the majority.

Tracksuits just look tacky.

His clothes may not represent Chelsea...but...

He's the manager of a massive football club, earning millions...it can't be that hard to put on a matching shirt and pants

I don't know. Since reading this assessment linking Mourinho's psychological state to his fashion I've worn nothing but suits.

Made washing myself a bit of a struggle in the shower but I'm thinking my bank manager will be impressed with my commitment to maintaining a professional air at all times.

Tracksuits just look tacky.

So do shorts and a t-shirt. Honestly I might boycott all games until every player takes the field in a three piece morning suit. God forbid if a player continues to play after their top hat comes off....sartorial elegance must be placed above form and function at all times. Sure the players might slip in their wingtips but that's the price that must be paid for us presenting a better image to the masses watching around the world.

Well since Mourinho is yahoo global ambassador and analysing most matches I hope he sees a good player that we could get. Maybe a striker?

Oh and he did said the two players that impressed him the most so far was Alexis Sanchez and Campbell from costa rica.

If only we didn't have Willian...Alexis Sanchez would have been a nice addition to our squad
