The Mourinho Thread

I dont want to be the naive guy believing every news, but from the whole madrid squad there is only him who is really a possibility since they'll have Carjaval plus Marcelo. And he is very respectful of José.

Does it matter though? It's not like we are in desperate need of a left back. Moreover, Mourinho is returning to somewhere very familiar with people that he still knows closely. Doesn't have to go bring an ally with him here.

Its not about an ally, but yes we need a left back and Coentrao can only improve, still very young.

We still got Cole for at least another year and Bertrand and even PVA as well. And if we are to get a new LB, would rather see us go get a HG talent in Shaw.

I totally agree, but again, lets face it : The after Cole will be difficult, because we were used to world class performances mainly in big matches and Shaw/VanAnnholt or Ryan wont be near Cole's level.I dont believe PVA will ever put the CFC shirt again, since he is in the Eredivisie we arent talking about a possiblitie of coming back, I think the'll sell him as they done with Matic.

Luke Shaw is a great prospect but will José and the direction put money on such young & inexperienced player for such important position ? I hope they'll have the guts to do.Ryan Bertrand is and will always be a bench warmer here, he is good defensively, but overall nothing exceptionnal offensively and I dont see him playing regularly here, better for him to go elsewhere.

So there is only Coentrao as a possible replacement for Cole, he is good, played big competition and with the right attitude he could progress.

So we get Contrao for 18 mil say (HYPOTHETICAL)

First game next season, cole is fit... Who plays?

Surely Cole.

So whats the point? Bertrand can be a backup if needed. Why spend 18 Mil on a number 2.

It makes me laugh... We wen't in to this season with only 2 strikers, but "according to reports" could be going into next season with 3 Left backs. How many do we actually need.

Funny. You said Coentrao can still improve because he's still young and not taking the same view on Bertrand and he's younger than Coentrao. The latter is better offensively but a suspect defensively and what you first want in a full back is the ability to defend properly, which Bertrand will give us that. And who's to say then, with Mourinho, Bertrand won't improve on his offensive play?

As for Mourinho not having faith in someone as young as Shaw? Didn't he integrated Varane into the Madrid and eventually play him including trusting him in some of their big games as well? And also, Mourinho gave Davide Santon his full debut at Inter when he was only 18 and was played quite a lot till a serious injury hampered him. If Shaw is good and more importantly, a player that Mourinho likes, then he will definitely not be afraid to play him a lot in games.

Every young players can develop, not all does.

Luke Shaw may be wanted by Mourinho, if the direction and the ones who control transfers does not want him, we wont see him pulling the Blue shirt, I'm not a specialist in this case, but José isnt going to control all the transfers will he ?

Does that mean Bertrand won't develop? No. Some players are late bloomers.

Mourinho won't have 100% control in the transfers but he'll definitely has his say in it, which includes convincing/getting the club to get certain players in. He, after all, is still the manager. And besides, it's not like we haven't been linked with Shaw...

Late bloomers or not, we cant wait for some to flourish. At the end of the day we'll closely watch the direction choices, I hope as every CFC fan they'll take the best decisions because a LB is as important as the striker.

Tell that to Drogba...

Bertrand is not a flashy player but if he can continue developing with his already solid defending and improve on his attacking play, I honestly don't see why we should just dump Bertrand to one side. And sometimes, some players just need the right manager to 'unlock' them..
