The Mourinho Thread

Recommended Posts

This isn't the 70s under Clough, or the 90s under Ferguson clubs don't operate like that anymore. It's laughable to think Mourinho, or any manager come to that is solely responsible for ins and outs nowadays.

A Mourinho player is, for me all about personality and desire. Look at the great sides he had here and at Inter and Porto and the top players who gave everything to win.

Not getting the ones he wanted in the Summer, the board or Abramovich getting rid of Cech...and then non-application from the remainder of the title winners for whatever reason brought out the Hitler in the bunker mentality.Hazard at Leicester, as an example, was the antithesis of what a Mourinho player is. Talent means little without application and hunger

And yet we're going to build a team around players like Hazard, players who rarely show any bottle.

someone will quote you or/and me for "insulting" Hazard, remarking how his poor form is not because of himself but everyone else around him.

Oh and he carried the whole team of "losers" last season, we basically won the title only because of him, otherwise we wouldn't even have made top 4.

I kinda liked Rafa when he was here, there was some progress at the end of the season.

But oh well, too bad many people don't like him.

He should stay as far away from us as possible.

Lool, I actually do feel sorry for him - to an extent. His failed media wars with SAF & Mourinho damaged him, rivals saw him as weak and naive. He's a knock-out competition manager, his track record proves that considering he's won both major European Cups, both with English teams as it happens!

But he's one of those guys you'll either get along with really well or you won't and that'll be very damaging esp for Rafa. Terry didn't want him at Chelsea (much like the fans) & he's reportedly having problems with James at Real. Towards the end of his Liverpool tenure it was said Gerrard & Torres weren't happy with him either.

Odds on him coming back here next December when we sack Brendan Rodgers?

If Mourinho isn't going to Madrid then there's really only one other job left for him, unless he plans to go in the summer.

Yeah, just heard about that (Rafa). Yikes. Only because RM are 4 points behind the top!

Also it's said that Zidane's the one to replace him, not Mourinho.

It has nothing to do with being 4 points behind. It has to do with ALL PLAYERS not wanting him, they even wrote a letter to Florentino asking for him to keep Carlo and he ignored it. Now, with voting taking place soon and the fans utterly upset with their president, this is Florentino admiting he fucked upbig time and he obviously dont want the voters unhappy (aka the members).

Right I don't feel that sorry for him

He was never going to get fan approval at Chelsea, certainly not openly. We can admit amongst ourselves he actually did a job when he got here, finished top 3 with some silverware to show for it, but he even knew how unforgiving SB crowd could be.

He did get a respectful goodbye though.

Although we can all laugh at Real Madrid, I do envy the fact that they elect presidents to their position. I'm not too au fait with the way it works but at least there's some accountability there.

If only we had something similar.

When will the "Rafa did well for us" myth stop ?

Chelsea was 3 points off the top when he came, in the run for winning the Club world cup and in the two english Cups as well.

He finished 15 POINTS off the champions, that is a disgrace, even we, in this disastrous situation have only 19 points off Arsenal at the moment, I don't think people here realize how bad he coped with the Premier League...

Won the Europa League, struggling against the likes of Rubin Kazan and needing an injury time winner against the likes of Sparta Prague... We really don't care, we had better objectives, which were mainly qualify for next season champion's league, but also challenge for the title, we lost FA Cup semis, Carling cup semis and CWC final while getting -12 points under him on the league...

The debate for Europa League only stands today because of the opportunity of that winning it gives you, playing the Champions League.

That wasn't the case at the time and I celebrated it madly as well, but we were playing really, really bad against teams like Prague and needing injury time winners at home to qualify, doesn't mean it's a "bad win", just means that we were really lucky and that Di Matteo would have probably won it as well.

Yeah but if it was so easy why don't English clubs win it more consistently? It's one of the reasons I'm against us qualifying for the EL in the first place; long travels coupled with having to play on the Thursday without a Football Association unwilling to help such clubs is a hindrance. Trying to then balance the issues of qualifying for the CL with a top 4 finish was harder than it looked so credit where it's due. Rafa's instructions were to qualify in top 4 and win a trophy or 2.. Which he did.

Let's not forget personnel wise. Signed Demba Ba for £7m in Jan and made the decision to move Luiz from CB to CM & Ivanovic from RB to CB; those 2 moves in particular sparked us actually beginning to win games.

Like I said, I don't like the bloke and hope he never comes back to Chelsea. His campaign started awfully as well, loss to QPR iirc. But by the end he'd done what he came to do and really didn't damage us in any way.
