The Mourinho Thread

Just rest Iva, Costa, Cahill,...anyway rotate, adjust tactics and eat some pride instead of pointing at opponents all the time...

I think Mou has been in this game for long time, but forgot how to be adventurous and looks only about numbers, results etc. I have feeling he doesnt see some beautiful options he could use to function better, i.e. Luis or Remy in certain games. But thats just me, maybe despite all those world class players we have, we cant beat sunderland or nufc...they did their job, city did their job but we didnt. Simple as that. Now get back in training and improve.

Which are you considering the bad game? Newcastle or Sunderland?

Tbf, the whole team was poor vs Sunderland and they parked the bus, he couldn't do much.

No need to be so patronising. It's my opinion. He was poor against Newcastle, Sunderland and Schalke (in terms of his finishing). He was given a rest midweek but you wouldn't know it.

My bad, I think it was expected he would slow down after a torrid start. Is benchimg him the right idea? What kind of message would that send to him? Especially when Ivanovic and Cahill don't get dropped despite making mistakes over and over?

I don't think it would be dropping Costa as much as it would be giving Remy his chance. But you are right and it's all hypothetical anyway. We'll likely see the same team next week except Matic in for Mikel.

Edit: forgot Cesc is suspended so probably see Ramires in for him. But the starting 11 seems fixed now, and even if you're playing badly you won't be dropped is the message.

There's a reason we have a full squad and not just 11 guys. 11 of the same players cannot win every game, not to mention some of our players have games they're not 100% suited to.

Last season i complained every game about Willian-Oscar-Hazard trio -it's good defensively, but not the best attacking wise- yet we still play them every game regardless of the opposition's style.

Luis is a no brainer for defensive teams, but Mourinho would rather wait for the game to be lost before bringing him on.

It's really very frustrating how HE blew 5 points from making the same mistake in 2 straight games -_-

Jose: 'The goals were strange rebounds and bounces, we were just unlucky. That's crystal clear. One day we will be lucky.' #CFC

Jose: 'I would be disappointed if the first defeat arrived with a referee mistake or my time being complacent. But we were unlucky.' #CFC

How come Jose doesn't moan about the players (strikers) like he would have last season? Probably because this is his team now and it's still making the same mistakes.

You could argue that it's also because its our first defeat he's going easy. Privately he's probably not happy but it's not so bad that he's going to send a message in public yet.

Maybe so. I wish he would just accept that we played badly though. His excuses in this game and against Sunderland of timewasting, us being unlucky, only one team trying to win, etc. are hypocritical and suggest little will change.

I thought he did very well today. The team was setup excellently as is evident by how well we started the match, then we came out from HT well on top and creating chances and finally the subs he made were all brilliant and helped us create chances and get back into the match despite Newcastle have all of the their players around their own box.

No complaints whatsoever from me. He did his job perfectly and can't be held accountable for the players failing to score the chances created.

I blame Jose 28 shots and only 1 goal .. he needs to improve his finishing. perhaps take some tips from Torres

Funny thing is, that was EXATLY the problem, you don't even need to watch the match to know. Our finishing and decision making in the final third was terrible and Newcastle got very lucky on several occasions.

When we win the title I am sure we won't see you here. Haters only come when there's good time for hating.

I respect your opinion, but seriously? bringing danger to the club?...as far as I know we're top of the league, playing good football and had an unbeaten run of 23(?) games til today...yeah we're in serious trouble alright...

Look like the way to stop us is full on bus parking, not much different from last season. It is not his fault though, we need a Messi/CR7 in games like this to bail us out like Madrid/Barca got. Hazard should have scored and it would have been so much different.

Expect more dropped points against QPR away, Sunderland at home and Arsena;/Spurs away at the minimum.

He did well picking the team for today, but made mistakes for not rotating in previous weeks.

As for missed chances goes, Willian is the kind of player I dont know why is so wanted here. He is fantastic runner and hard worker, but he is also a winger and he doesnt do his job. He fucks up attacks with his bad shots or wrong decisions. Yet he is appreciated for his hard work. But everyone forgets he is winger, and you have two kinds of wingers; a direct one who dribbles and scores goals and sets them up with good passes i.e. Sanchez or Di Maria. And then you have passive wingers who run run run wide and create width, make space and finish of with a good cross like Candreva. Willian is neither. He works his ass off but if we had efficient winger instead of him, we would have 5/10 more goals.

And how come Mou say that we were team who wanted to win but got unlucky? Did Newcastle wanted to lose and still scored 2 goals or what? He should say its our fault. Nufc were bit lucky with goals, but we were not efficient because we were tired. As for sunderland game goes, it was completely Mou fault because we didnt play wide enough.

Final whistle verdict: We tried everything

Jose Mourinho felt we were unlucky to be beaten 2-1 by Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

The Blues had looked the more dangerous of the two sides for much of the game, but two Papiss Cisse goals, scored in the space of 11 second-half minutes, left us with too much to do.

Substitute Didier Drogba reduced the deficit seven minutes from time when he headed home a Cesc Fabregas free-kick and although we pressed for what would have been a deserved equaliser during the closing stages we were unable to find the breakthrough.

‘We were unlucky,’ said Mourinho. ‘The best team lost, the team that tried to win lost, but that’s football.

‘What’s important is that it’s the kind of defeat which is easy to accept. I don’t like to lose when the referee isn’t good and I blame him, which isn’t the case. He was very good and had no influence on the result. I don’t like to lose and blame my players because they were complacent, didn’t play, didn’t produce or the attitude wasn’t good, that’s not the case, so I’m happy about that.

‘We were unlucky, we didn’t score goals when we could have and we conceded the only times they crossed the midfield line, but that’s football and I accept it. We were unlucky, that’s crystal clear, one day we will be lucky.’

The Blues boss said he expected Newcastle to set up defensively

‘Yes, and I won’t criticise them for that, no way. They can do what they want but to play that way and win you need luck, which they had. I have no problem with that.

‘My players tried everything. When they lost the mental balance to play good football we changed strategy and played direct. We caused them problems with that and almost got a point, which is the minimum we deserved. We tried everything and I have no complaints.’
