Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has joined the interest for Ajax striker Luis Suarez. The Uruguay World Cup star has caught the eye of Ancelotti in South Africa after helping his nation to the quarterfinals.

Suarez has been a long-term target for Manchester United and Barcelona.

Ancelotti sees Suarez as a long-term successor for Didier Drogba and has been impressed by the youngster's power and pace while in action this month.

"Chelsea will swoop for controversial Uruguay World Cup 2010 striker Luis Suarez if they fail to force through Fernando Torres' switch from Liverpool, according to The People. Suarez, 23, followed a sensational 49-goal domestic season with Ajax with threein South Africa. Despite hitting the headlines for his goal-line handball in the quarter-final victory against Ghana, his displays impressed manager Carlo Ancelotti and he could be be set to make a bid if his pursuit of Torres is unsuccessful. Liverpool superstar Torres remains his main target but his injury in the World Cup final, loyalty to the Reds and extremely high price-tag could all prove to be prohibitive. Suarez would be available for half the £50 million Chelsea are prepared to pay for the Spaniard and has recently expressed a desire to come to the Premier League this summer "

Trust me, he is not good enough for Chelsea, nor worth the money. Why?

1. He is a giant diver (wich doesn't come in handy in the EPL). Players who moan and dive all the time aren't Chelsea-worhy in my opinion.

2. One way or another, luck seems to be his best friend. Suarez always knows to squeeze little balls through and/or score, but not before it has come of limbs of three different opposition defenders and the referee. I doubt it if he will be that lucky in the EPL. After all, we need pure quality players, not lucky ones.

Dont act like what he did was justifiable. If Essien had been playing that match, you would probably be disgusted by his handball as well.

Say it was the Champions league final and Terry done that and we won it what would you say? People are taking this way out of proportion he was doing what was right for his team and risked himself for that.

Fuck that cheater. Ajax can keep him.

he committed a professional foul ...got sent off and penalty given ....he didnt threaten anyones career with a vicious tackle..

it was only the context of the offence that caused so much bitterness against him. he has nothing to be ashamed of

Ok so I guess professionalism and sportsmanship are unimportant all of a sudden? But hey! Lets lynch all the divers!!

You know it's something diffrent. Do not compare diving to handball, because these are 2 different things.

I wonder if he would got so much attention if this Ghanian player scored...

FFS if you look at the video of the incident, he sticks his hand out instinctively. The ball's heading straight to him from like one metre out and there's nothing he can do but stick his hands out so that the ball doesn't hit him in the face. It's not like he was a couple of yards away when the header connected, he ran towards the goalline and used his hands to stop it from going in. In any case, he was handed out the punishment according to the rules. A straight red and a penalty, which Gyan rushed and hence, missed.

you might have watched a different match mate. I wont even call that a handball. he was trying to be the second goalkeeper. Its a shame what he did. its also a shame the Ghanians missed the penalty.

personally, I prefer signing Aguero, then Lukaku, Maybe Torres. if none of them is signed, then we can think of Suarez. just my opinion anyway
