petre.ispirescu 4,928
There is one more thing to take in consideration here - if Chelsea want to revamp Stamford Bridge in the next year or two and that move to Twickenham is still on the line, then I think this is the perfect moment to do so.Messi is the greatest football player of all time and should this move happen, then you would have no problem filling at least 80% of the capacity of that stadium at every home game. And Chelsea knows this.Messi attracts football fans as honey attracs flies, no matter they are English fans or fans from abroad. Everyone will come to see Messi, even neutrals, I bet. Especially in the home of football.Chelsea would recoup at least 60-70% of the transfer fee by ticket and shirt selling. Plus you win a great player and give another dimension to Stamford Bridge at the same time. And add other millions to your fan base, too.
Blue-in-me-Veins 4,067
Too add on to @petre.ispirescu's final notion about adding more fans. I was reading that Chelsea are planning to travel to South America for their pre-season tour. And what a greater way to make a presence than by showcasing the great Argentine himself! God i need to stop thinking about this....the whole situations got me feeling like a Justin Beinber fangirl.

KevinAshburner 1,270
say we was to sign him, what number would he get? I think he should be the first player in football history to receive a 3 digit number like 100 but the number would have to be small because it wouldn't fit on the back of his jersey or number

CurlyHairLikeLuiz 1,625
Ticket sales are irrelevant, the stadium is already at maximum capacity already.Plus...we've already got too many bloody tourists in the stands... ugh. Hopefully the barca 'I'm only here for Messi' brigade can actually sing...We'd still get £50m easily in shirt sales, though, and if Adidas help out with, say, £100m, we're actually not too far away. Sell Schurrle and Ivanovic and maybe we might get there!

Turkish Airlines also endorse Messi so it would be in their best interests for him to sign as well. Also it's £190-£200 as his buy out clause is €250£100 million off Adidas, £50 million off Turkish Airlines, £40-£50 million in shirt sales. DH1988 1,352
In all seriousness if I was Barca I'd snap Chelsea's hand off at an offer, he's not exactly young anymore, played a ton of football, now is the time to cash in to be honest, £200m? Crazy money.
