Diego Costa

What really made me happy with Costa is not his assists, goal and strength. It's how he got up and wanted to shove it up defender's arse for that tackle. That's what a leader and a brave player does and that's a player that won't be bothered by media when say he's a flop. Instead he'll make opposition shit themselves and score a couple of goals, and then rub it and anyone's face who doubted him.

I'm surprised with his speed and at just how well he dribbles and controls the ball sometimes. In Costa we have one of the most complete strikers in the world at the moment, and I'm really bloody happy about it!

And those 2 passes really speak about his attitude and passion for win. I'm really growing on Costa, he's a badass !

Mate, that's typical Diego. He'll pick a fight with anyone, anytime, anywhere. He's beyond a badass, he's borderline mental

But yeah, it's a great trait for a striker to have.

Was checking his stats now, and it's funny that half of his shots were on goal and half not, and half of the shots on goal ended up in goals (in La Liga). So he's shot accuracy % is 50% and his goal accuracy is 50% of shots on goal and 25% of shots in general. All those in 34 matches + 1 as a sub. 108 shots, 54 on goal, 27 goals in La Liga.

I think his stats are inflated by the fact that he very rarely takes shots from outside the box.

That's the way it should be for a striker as well. I don't want my striker to frequently take random pot shots from 25+ yards.

Shots from outside the box (including free kicks) often go awry but can be effective particularly with rebounds and deflections. I think Guardiola's approach of no shots from outside the box is very limiting.

At the same time his passing accuracy is the highest amongst our strikers and he's fairly strong which implies his link up play and ability to maintain the team in possession is really good when he can't shoot from close-medium range. If he isn't confident in his long shooting he shouldn't be overly trying them, I'd rather have him pass the ball while we keep looking for chances to infiltrate the box.

I agree, but I'd much rather someone like Schurrle - who is renowned for taking these type of shots from distance - take these sort of shots, and I'd much rather have Costa as the one who is scoring the rebounds.

It certainly is no biggie. Almost every striker scores the overwhelming majority of their goals in the box.
