This was likely going to be the case when the club was taken over by a consortium.

Explains everything. First window was filled with overpriced big money signings like Koulibaly, Fofana and Sterling (when Boehly called the shots), and complete reversal in the other direction when Eghbali & Clearlake took over proceedings., halfway through that first season.

It's been a mess both ways. Constant reshuffling, chopping and changing at all levels, from top to bottom. No wonder we don't have a shirt sponsor. Embarrassing for a club at this level. 

Whoever thinks that this was all part of some of grand, well throught-out plan is really drinking the kool-aid.

Not going to go into the forced sale thing itself, but wasn't one of the points of agreeing to pick Clearlake & co that they declared club can't be sold in next 10 years? Any of the partners selling their stake literally changes who is the owner of the club.

Clownlake Egbhali and Feliciano are capitalist moneyball wrongers they are looking only for profit , business while  Meatloaf Boehly is another wronger who love to be celebrity face of the PR happy meal wonderful food we will beat Real Madrid 3:0  both of them are not enough to run this club even alone they have no clue about football they are not Roman they are clowns . Understand Clearlake Capital remain very relaxed about the situation behind the scenes. The two options for Todd Boehly are very clear: sell his shares or don't. Clearlake won't consider selling 61.5% stake in Chelsea.

Boehly and Eghbali are believed to have conflicting visions for the future of Chelsea over a number of issues, both on and off the pitch.

According to Sky Sports, Boehly is unsure of the current recruitment strategy being implemented by Eghbali.

Boehly is also thought to have reservations over the fact that no significant progress has been made on redeveloping Stamford Bridge.

 

So neither of them seem interested in the teams terminal decline into mid table mediocrity - its all about the money for them
