Kojo 4,676
Time to start playing Bertrand a lot more. But don't make him start every game, in my opinion Spurs have ruined Kyle Walker, they only have him for right back and he's too young, if he puts in shit performances they will have to keep him there. As for us if Bertrand plays badly or starts under performing, Ashley Cole will help out.
Tomo 21,751
@Kojo, They have Kyle Naughton there now.
Madmax 9,219
I wonder if he'll get the nod at RB for Wigan if we've not signed Cesar by then.

He has taken the big step up to the first team for real now. I think Ashley should be glad about that. He will get the rest that he needs this season. CHOULO19 24,332
I really hope he starts getting solid minutes with the team. Whenever we have two games in a single week I think Ryan and Ash should get one each.
capriccioso 2,545
Cole is still the best left back in the world. The split should be 2/1 for every 3 games, in favour of Ashley; gradually by January 2014 moving to 50-50, and by July 2014, Bertrand should be ready.I have to say though, Ryan is lightning quick. Deceptively quick as well, I never thought he had this much speed in him.
BlueLion. 21,491
I don't think it should be so definite. As long as Bertrand gets 10 or so starts and makes another 15-20 sub appearances, it is progression.

Remember when AVB played him every single match last season? By Christmas he was our worst defender because he was simply too tired. Yes he managed amazing performances in the cups, but in the league he looked too tired to be bothered.
Manuf 1,448
Well he's also capable of playing as a left winger so I doubt he will have problems getting some minutes.
KonohasOrangeFlash 2,607
Looks like Betrand will be played all up the left flank as either a LB/LWB or LM/LW. What a useful player he has become. The next great LB of England.
Blue-in-me-Veins 4,067
i used to think PVA and Bertrand would have real tough battle for replacing A cole,, now its just a no brainer, they just grow up so fast.

He was class in the youth cups but when he moved up to reserves I never got to watch much of him.

Even someone as intelligentas Lampard doesnt seem to have grasped what Giggs and Scholes have. Justin_3d
Superblue 6,372
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19286776Good head on him, and he seems to be thinking along the same lines I am - having played 15 games last season, 20-25 will be good progress this season, particularly as he continues to be trusted more in bigger, more important games. We will also see the best of Ashley Cole this way, as we cannot continue to expect him to play 2-3 games a week. We no longer need to expect now. Justin_3d
