remains of the day 564
In all honesty I've had enough from them. We don't have many of them here, but their need to come to Eto'o thread to demoralize him when Torres has been worse sometimes gets on my nerves.Neither of them are good, but while Torres has been poor, Eto'o has been decent, especially in 2014. mmhmm, go 'n girl! Preach. it. Barbara and Stingray
MrExcalibur100 7,124
Anyone who thinks Eto'o hasn't been MUCH better than Torres this season needs his head examined. I've seen Torres fangirls/boys bash genuine world-class players like Hazard for not passing Lord Torres the ball enough and for being "stingy". As if Torres hasn't been shit before the likes of Hazard joined us. Unreal. Torres' problem is injuries. It hurts me seeing a great player become a pale shadow of his former self, but the truth is Torres was "done" when he lept off in the World Cup final against Holland. Hasn't been the same since. There's only so many knee injuries and hamstring pulls/tears a player can take. Funny thing is Roman attended that match and should have known not to buy him.As for Eto'o in the last 3-4 games, his problem is clear. He has been carrying the work-load and piling up the minutes in the absence of the previously injured Torres and it took its toll. You don't expect a player in the twilight of his career to play every game, including in mid-week. And Mourinho was reluctant to use Ba as well. His lazy playing has made me mad several times. BUT even though he is nowhere near he used to be like 5 years ago, he has helped us in big matches with his experience. It is funny, but he is a born winner. He hasn't lost many big finals, and that is not pure luck. Maybe 50 million wasn't THAT much after all He has won those big things in our club he wanted when he joined. Maybe PL this season, but I think it's the time for him to leave next summer... Jase 43,479
Mourinho on Eto'o...http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2571722/Jose-Mourinho-Id-Manuel-Pellegrinis-shoes-Premier-League-title-run-in.htmlSamuel Eto'o, despite having scored the most league goals of any of Chelsea's three senior strikers, did not make the bench on Saturday. Explaining why he opted to go with Fernando Torres, Mourinho said: 'There's nothing wrong with Samuel. I just felt in this kind of match - away from home, against normally defensive teams, aggressive defenders - I thought to go with Fernando (Torres) and, if I need to risk in the last part of the game I'd use Demba (Ba). 'You see, Eto'o scores goals but at home. He scores in the league, in the Champions League but all of them at home.'Playing away is more difficult for him. I think he is our best striker to play at home because of his technique, his movement and his understanding with Eden (Hazard) and Oscar.'For me, he is best to play at home. Away he is showing some difficulties.' kellzfresh and Barbara

DoubleO 192
can't believe some Chelsea fans are still hating him. ok, he doesn't always perform and he misses some easy chances, but just look at him in big matches. he's always there, carrying this team forward! IF we win the title, Samu is one of the most important reasons for that. didi007
Popular Post! MrExcalibur100 7,124 Posted March 8, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted March 8, 2014 Torres would never have had the same impact. Torres wouldn't have scored from Vertoghan's loose pass, Torres wouldn't have been in the box to win that penalty from Hazard's pass, Torres wouldn't have scored either of Ba's two goals. Simply put, Torres is our worst striker and needs to be put out of his misery in the summer. Rambo, didi007, Tomo and 3 others

Blue Armour 4,443
Sigh,...this page seems to have more comments about Torres and his fanboys than Eto'o...But moving past that..., Eto'o once again stepping up for a big match this season. He could have had 2 more if he hadn't hesitated a bit today, but still his finish was delightful, the ball going under the defender and between Lloris' feet. His reactions are so quick that he easily capitalizes on any mistakes made by the defense...Also has the best close-control of the ball, of all our strikers kellzfresh, dee25, Barbara and 1 other

Would be nice if he could stay another season instead of Torres... but i belive he'll want to play in USA or Mallorca to finish his career. Popular Post! Barbara 15,149 Posted March 9, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted March 9, 2014 The guy is indeed a champ and that's why the board should treat his case carefully. One of the things that the youngsters or the younger players need to add into their mentality is this winning thirsty and belief. Hazard (and someone else I can't remember, I guess Azpili?) already testified at the power this guy has in the dressing room and during trainings. We see the goals and assists he brings (I guess it's 7 and 5 respectively in EPL), but there's this whole psychological aspect we don't see but that Mourinho and a few players keep saying he brings. It's different from John Terry saying it. Eto'o is a striker, I think he's one of the keys why we saw so much improvement in Eden. Yeah, the tactical part is all Mourinho, but I credit some aspects to Samuel too. Having a guy like this in your squad is always useful. We already waste whatever wage paying Torres to be there every week and add nearly nothing. I'd consider keeping him. Also his experience can be a key factor when we need a goal to win a very important match. We could play with two strikers and bring him because not only he has the experience and I feel he also has the winning thing about him that could score us the deciding goal to win a title or to get into an UCL final for example.Whatever striker that comes to us, except Mario and the ones playing the EPL, will have to adapt to style, so having someone like him in the squad is really, really important imo. No one is fooling themselves here expecting he'll be the Eto'o of old from Barça or Inter, but he's still an invaluable asset imo for the experience and everything he can teach to our AMs and even Lukaku if we keep him next season. If we keep Lukaku is all more reason to keep Samuel too. The Skipper, zolayes, Sidzeret and 10 others
