Passing range only counts if most/some of those passes are accurate. I can't remember him completing any of his long passes. In that regard the difference between Pirlo and ramires is the passing accuracy as anyone can hit a long pass technically, the difficult part is picking out a teammate.

IIRC his passes did reach his intended targets hence the praise from me and Choulo.

After watching how an 8 month injury turned Kaka, who was the Ballon D'or at the time, into a less than average player, I'm always nervous when I see one of the players I like stay away from football for such a long time... Young players like him can get over injuries more often.. Azpi had a serious knee injury when he played for Marseille and he is great now. Jovetic suffered two injuries to his cruciate ligament before he turned 22 but later he was outstanding in Italy.

Let's just hope the best. Wulfert worked very hard to come back, he seems to be a big fighter.

Definitely Mourinho's orders, and just the general set up of the team. Mourinho wanted to provide a solid foundation because we had a lot of inexperience up front in pre season, hence why MVG wasn't really allowed to venture forward too much.

It depends whether Marco is also a good at going forward because til now he did not much for the attack and as a box to box player you should also be attacking minded.At Vitesse he was also an attacking minded player,but Marco is now a too defensive.Marco should show some creativity,dribblings and maybe some shots.That is not enough for me.

Another solid display by him.

He was very good tackling - as usual, only looked a bit flustered once as far as I remember, and took some nice set-pieces.

I really hope he continues to shine in the pre-season. We need him to erase Ramires from Mourinho's mind. He doesn't have the same pace and stamina, but he's fast nonetheless and he's resilient enough, he can endure the matches.

A pivot with him and Matic is great, and he can also play in the 4-3-3 midfield alongside Cesc and Matic - with Cesc as the most advanced midfielder. I want to see this boy getting some matches. We need to continue his development, he has a lot of potential and I can't for the life of me see why we'd need to sign another MD (CM, DM, B2B, DLP) at all. We're balanced as it is. Oriol was also very solid today so we have them, and Ramires and Mikel (we could easily offload Mikel tbh, sorry Chou Chou). So if Oscar goes off again this season we have better options than simply throwing Ramires in the wing and moving Willian to the middle. Cesc can play Oscar's position and Marco can play Cesc's. Actually I think both Oscar and especially Willian will have to step up big time to keep their places in the team or even be relevant, as Schurrle ended the season (with us and the WC) in a high and Hazard is Hazard.

He's young and he has the kind of personality José simply loves (which is one of the reason why I believe DD is back). He's fearless, he's always highly motivated and I think he might even have that thirsty to win within him.

Luís said we'd never see him walking in the pitch, but always running and I believe it to also be true about this lad. I'm very happy with him and I'm looking forward to him staying here a long, long time.

Looked good today but some of his tackles are dangerous. He's not quite Paul Scholes and most can be put down to over-exuberance but there was one today where he went through the back of one of their players with no chance of getting the ball. Needs to just relax a bit because he's a solid midfielder.

I think he is doing that because he is coming back from a long lay-off and is just keen to impress the manager and send him the message that he is not only mentally ready to be a part of the squad but he's also physically ready.

It's not something new to his game. I remember him doing the same thing in his first CL start for us and I'm pretty sure he got booked for it. He's very willing to go to the ground and some of his attempts are absolutely ridiculous, they're dangerous and if it was Ramires then they'd probably get more attention.
