Fernando Torres

I just got an incredibly sick gut feeling that Fernando won't be sold in the January transfer window or the next summer window. I fear Roman may have too much pride to let him go. :(

I actually don't care about him staying, i just don't want him to be first choice forward. His performances this season would be good enough for a Kalou lite role, just not first choice forward. If he wants that tag he should earn it and take on any competition we bring in. What better way to prove himself to the fans than to do to Falcao what Drogba did to Sheva?

I find it embarrassing that we have had top forwards as good as whoring themself's to us yet we are stuck with a more expensive Kalou up front.

Hes so bad I'd rather us play John Terry as a false 9.

Not false 9. A false 9, as I understand it, is like a second striker who goes deep and plays practically in the hole. JT would be a pure target man, we could hoof it and cross it to him and he would win headers for us up front. Not such a bad idea tbh :P As a striker I'd rather see Cahill, he can head and shoot. Or Luiz.

Well the club hierarchy have shown with the managers that they're quick to change things when they're not going to plan. We've tried it all with Torres and it hasn't worked, isn't working and doesn't look like it's ever going to work. Falcao and Chelsea have been flirting pretty openly in the past week and the writing's on the wall as far as I'm concerned.

I remember this same flirting when AVB first arrived, hek I even remember Falcao saying that he is ready to play for Chelsea. Then we ended up being stuck with this guy. I wouldn't keep my hopes up if I were you mate.

Back then the club had Drogba and still hopes for Torres now both are gone.Roman is business after all and Torres is obvious deadwood earning 250K per week, I've no doubt that if everything depends on us we will ship him even in Jan.

Yes but Robbie never entertains these transfer stories, invariably strainght-batting questions with a standard 'He's a good player but he isn't our player'. Not quite so this week.

Atletico haven't played him in the EL at all this season; there's a theory going around it's to keep him from being cup-tied for us.

I have a feeling there's too much logic to this move for it to not have been agreed already.

Not playing in Europa games wonders me too. There just is something around...

I like your optimism but tbh their main goal is maintaining a high position in La Liga, so it wouldn't surprsie me that they are using the group stages of the europa league to rest him and keep him fresh for their league games.

I think that Courtois did not play in europa league this year too.

I don't think there is much point recalling him yet as we may as well keep him playing until he is gonna take over from cech. No point him coming back to sit on the bench for a season.

RDM saying we are interested is the first time I've heard a coach not fully behind Torres.

Actually towards AVB's time here he compared Torres to Kezman Sheva than Roman promptly booted him out. He made the comments on the 29th of February

Torres played in the Europa for Liverpool then the CL for us in the same season, so that won't be the reason.

Well, Jai is right.

Azpilicueta already played one game for Marseille in the qualifying stages of the Europe League this season which means that we can't register any other player, who has already made an appearance in the EL (e.g. Falcao), for the CL campaign, IIRC.
