Mart 29
Torres needs to take more shots, but the players also have to look for him more. Even Mata was guilty yesterday of taking a difficult shot on when he had an easy pass to Torres for a tap in. Imo he's as good as our team let him be, he needs to feel absolute confidence from his team mates. We also need to get one of Mata, Hazard or Oscar playing very close to him at all times. Remember that brilliant goal against Newcastle? That was from him and Hazard playing very close together.
Popular Post! CHOULO19 24,332 Posted September 20, 2012 Popular Post! Share Posted September 20, 2012 Don't see why this needs another thread, especially that the posts are almost identical to the ones in Torres' thread in the 'current squad' section.I think we've been through the reasons and counter reasons for why Torres is not delivering about a million times in the past 20 months and it is obvious that we aren't going anywhere in this 'discussion'. But can we, at least, agree that the situation is not working and that he needs to go?I personally never fully understood the term 'service'; it, along with 'creativity', are two words that mean very little to me in football. It's easy to just throw those around whenever in doubt, but what exactly is the bench mark for creativity and service? Did a Liverpool side that does not compare to our current squad in terms of player abilities have creativity and we don't? Kuyt, Babel and Gerard provide better service than Mata, Lampard, Hazard? In my book, service and creativity have to do with the recipient as much as the sender. If a striker wants the ball then he keeps making runs till someone picks him up. I don't remember Torres making a single run yesterday.I can understand someone saying that it's not his fault alone, but to say that he is not at fault alone is ridiculous in my eyes. How many sitters have he missed in his time here? How many chances to shoot did he waste by hesitating? How many times did he run straight into 3-4 defenders just this season? Those are his fault and his fault alone.I think we have reached a point where it is best for everyone if he just moves along in Jan, even for those who love him and still believe he can be world class, I think we can agree that his best interest lies outside Chelsea FC. Kojo 4,676
Sometimes there's so many excuses for a player, they just look so hopeless, but really they can still become good, the code can be cracked. But with Torres, i just cannot see it at all, i would bet a lot of money on him not becoming any better in the future, he's just worthless. I see nothing in this one, no legend material or anything.

BOSS 372
If he starts vs Stoke them i would be lost for words. If Sturridge is injured start then i would even prefer Moses over him. Because with Torres we are basically played with 10 men.
susu 41
I judge him by his attitude on the pitch. There's been numerous occasions where he was just walking around not doing anything to help the team. It's one story to give 100% of effort and still fail but it's another one to be invisible the whole match long. He could've gone off the ground yesterday and nobody would've even noticed he was missing. Not a bad distance for just walking and sulking, not bad!!! BOSS 372
Not a bad distance for just walking and sulking, not bad!!! Some people ... some peolple...Thats the only thing Torres can do. He can run thats it. Other top European club fans are laughing at us for basically still trusting this guy. If he was at Madrid/Barca/UTD/City etc he would sit on the bench after half a month and yet here we are after 2 YEARS. I am a fan of the club not Torres i showed him support for 2 years but dude its enough man. chelseathebest and Tomo
Kinol 337
Stop talking about his attitude, work rate etc. Torres is simply bad and shouldnt play in a top club like Chelsea and thats what ive been trying too tell you guys all the time. I dont care if Torres runs freaking 50 km in a game. He still sucks and has lost everything that defines a good striker. And stop complaining on the midfielders. Almost all teams sit back on us so giving through balls isnt really the easiest thing to do. If torres wants through balls he first have to get out through the exit door, cuz he wont get it here. CHOULO19 24,332
Will you dare to say he's been provided loads of tap-ins for months? Of course not, Torres hasn't been in the pen area for months now
CHOULO19 24,332
Why has he been leaving his focal point position? Every strikers does that when he doesn't receive the ball...Sometimes he seemed to fear to enter into it, that's understandable considering he's received one of the worse mediatic treatment ever in Premier League. But there's plenty other games where he weren't in position to receive the ball, why then he decided to drop back logicallyYou are probably right, but as I said in my previous post, discussing 'Why' really isn't getting us anywhere especially that the reasons differ from one game to another since in one match he is guilty of bad finishing and not making an effort and in the next he works his ass off but doesn't get passes. What I think is becoming obvious however is that it is probably best for both the club and him if he moves on.
underdrog 18
many counter attacks against juve were fucked up because of Torres's incompetence....We made a big mistake by not signing a quality striker.
CHOULO19 24,332
I havent watched the QPR and Juve games so far That explains A LOT . Torres from QPR and Juve was practically the same one from the back end of 2010-11 (yes that bad!) which got everyone's hope deflated yet again. Cosmin 2,484
I wonder how many games has Falcao played in the same 1 month. So, Fernando's not getting good service and now he's also tired. I wonder how far can you people go for a guy who has done NOTHING for this club. Manuf
Cosmin 2,484
My remark is stupid? Fuck off, then. Almost the whole fucking forum agrees that Torres is pure shit and you and a few others are still trying to prove that he is a great player who has the bad luck to play along with 10 shitty men. chelseathebest
Tricky 301
I noticed some things that make torres look bad.Torres doesnt have a style of play. He plays in the wings today, he stands in the front without moving tomorow, he tries to dribble through 3 defenders and loses the ball instead of just passing in the next match.Watch falcao, This is his style of play.1. he comes deep to recieve the pass, passes it, then makes a run foward for the through pass or cross2. He could also stand with the defender raise his hands just up for the midfielder to give him the through ball and start making a run for the pass. (even when the midfielder doesnt give he doesnt just dissapear but tries again)3. When he is marked he pulls the defenders away and PASSES THE BALL TO THE WINGER OR MIDFIELDER and runs back incase of a one two.DilemmaThe last time i remember torres making a run to recieve a pass is against newcastle and hazard passed to him. If you were a midfielder you will have no idea how to play with torres because he doesnt have a particular style of play.He used to make runs in liverpool and gerrad finds him with long balls but now he just stands straight. Only big strikers like Drogba and Ibrahimovic should stand straight and recieve ball since they are big enough to not fall down all the time like torres Smaller strikers like tevez, aguero and villa pass back to the midfielder quickly and run foward incase of a one-two pass.Solution1. Torres should hold the ball to his feet and pass instead of trying to dribble and looking for the foul. 2. I hope oscar has taught torres how to shoot without looking at the goal just like drogba (torres is a freakin striker SHOOOOT)3. Torres should pass when surrounded by three players instead of trying to do everything on his own He loses the ball more than anybody in chelsea(sometimes because of peter cech) he is starting to look like suarez in my eyes. 4. Torres must make runs or he will score less than 20 goals fact.5. Torres should scream or point(like villa) to the midfielder where he wants the ball to be played instead of just hoping they can read his mind 6. Peter cech should stop hoofing the ball in the air for torres, he is no drogba he cant win any ball in the air against any defender thats why chelsea dont score with headers again.Sigh....He played against three centre halves last night. Our wingers played way to narrow which left him no room to work in. Hence his movement into the channels. He was poor against QPR, but he has played well this season. I expect things to get better when RDM finally realises that Ramirez is no winger. Marin and Moses are going to offer better width, pulling defenders out of position and providing some channels to work in.
Tricky 301
He has always been crap to control the ball (Atletico, Liverpool...), what always made the difference has been the ability to be explosive enough to keep the ball under control. If you want to make up such threads full of bullshit, at least try to be accurate on the few points who can beI don't get the point of this topic by the way. Since he's at Chelsea he's getting an weird, inconsisistent, crap... (call that whatever you want) service. He tried to adapt his game to it by playing lay backs on the width, being unselfish to create chances... Pretending everything is perfect behind him (I guess that's the point of people not even mentionning how horrendous is the attacking animation) is just fucking hypocritical. I don't know about you all but when I get up I use to look at myself in a mirror. I've no crush or anything for Torres, I just refuse to fall into stupid conclusions especially when he's not the main problem. That shall be simplier just to say he's weak, no character or other stupid stuffThat doesn't prevent me to criticize him with his choices on the ball when he's in form, when he tries something too complicated , when he tries to force that choice. He's not above the team.I'm fed up of all those superficial criticisms ; just now and after one and a half year people, blogs, pundits etc... start to notice how useless are Mata, Sturridge defensively. Whereas it has been one of the main problem on this same length of time (and not Mikel, Torres, Lampard or whoever...)This....
