He's qualified for Europe, I'm happy with that, but you're right so far he hasn't.

The job is not done, and just you wait, if we don't win Europa then just watch this thread, it will be heated like fuck.

Shut up Kojo. Benitez has been a boss.

Benitez the Big Blue Boss.

His subs today we're hardly mind blowing. In fact we were all calling for that in the match thread. If we should see it a manager of a top club should be able to see it easily. It's not hard, anyone who is an avid fan of Chelsea could make those decisions yet rafa seems to struggle as seen in the tottenham game..

But,

We have got top 4, have a great chance of europa league glory, and rafa has already said he is leaving... Glad he is gone, but in that regard it's job done... Harder than we wanted it to be but we are there and it won't negatively impact us in the long term.

Time to move on. HOPEFULLY WITH JOSE!!!!

Let me put it this way for u Rafa lovers..

1. We fought like fucking beasts untill the last minute to secure the top 4 spot.

2. We failed at everything except the Europa League.

3. The Europa League sucks.

4. Rafa's subs are almost always wrong and stupid.

5. We play shit in too many games.

6. Seems like Rafa only cares about his managing record rather than what happens to Chelsea.

7. He thinks he's a great manager, and that he's doing a good job (which is absolutely wrong).

8. He always blame the players for not being clinical, but seems like this never changes, meaning he doesn't work on it enough with the players.

9. He never does too much to protect our team or players in the press confrences.

10. He's a cunt.

the most worrying thing is, if we win the Europa league and as we have secured top 4, that they may consider giving him a contract.

however the Jose rumours are too strong, and we've got the top 4 which should certainly seal that deal. im greatful for waht rafa has done this season, he has managed to scrape us that top 4. could have been a lot easier if he made some decent subs... but hes done it. so thanks, but now let Jose take over. chersthenbyethx

Come off it, any human being with decent footballing knowledge would've made the same move. Everyone in the CFC away end were calling for Moses to come off for Luiz after Ramires' sending off, it's common sense, not some magical tactical stroke.

So when something goes wrong it is automatically Rafa's fault, but when things go well it is just random luck or 'common sense'? Give me a fucking break. I'd really like to see some people's comments if it was anyone but Benitez in charge. It's a big trend on this forum to make yourself look more of a fan, more important to google random facts regarding Chelsea, slate unpopular figures when you've got nothing personal against them and remind the 'good old days', when we weren't able to win Premier League, let alone Champions League/Europa League.

That is exactly how it is with Rafa.

We play like shit and he mostly does bad things and make bad choices.

But luckily for him we got players like Lamps, and Hazard who could make 2 wonderful goals and save our asses even though we played shit.

Who picks the players, who picks the formation, who picks the tactics, who picks the positions for the players, who gives side-line tactics? This year we have lost many points not only due to being inferior in tactics department but also your praised players becoming complacent and dozing off in the dying minutes. Before you say it is manager's job to babysit their every move then I've got a question why do we pay them 200,000 pounds/week? It's just too easy to blame everything on the manager. Just as we had haters here during Ancelotti days etc.

I'm not giving Rafa any credit for today. I was fucking fuming at gis team selection and when he didn't take BA off sooner I was raging at the tv.

Luck we have Super!

I bet everyone agrees that we want the club to get a longterm manager but with that in mind i just cant understand how someone would want Rafa to stay. Do you seriously belive he will stay more than 1 season if he gets a new contract?

TBH, I don't think Benitez deserve much credit nor criticisms for today's result. It has more to do with the performances of the players than anything else. He fielded a strong side to get the 3 points we need but the players hardly turned up till Benteke got sent off and made necessary changes when needed (except maybe not bringing Torres on earlier for Ba). That's it really.

No. If you've seen my posts regarding Benitez, you'll see me give credit to him where it's due. I'm talking about yesterday's game specifically - bushman was basically claiming that Rafa's decision to sub in Luiz at H/T was a great tactical move when to me and many others it was common sense. That's what I was talking about.

I'm fair against Benitez, I'll give him credit when it's due, but he hasn't done anything spectacular overall and didn't do anything spectacular yesterday and you know it. He's just done an average job.

I think you are both right. A common sense substitution can be a good tactical move. One shouldn't rule out another.

My situation is exactly like kojo said, want to give credit for him a moment then boom all gone. I hate him could never like him but he earn my respect.he is a good professional, people says he only cares about himself but don't agree with that because its his job, he don't care about the fans -absolutely true because it requires passion for the club, But we aren't expecting that from him.overall he done a decent job not tremendous, but the back four became solid which was a mess under rdm. When comes to substitutions oh boy do i need to continue. We had a lot of interim managers over these years and most of them won cups, Rafa may win Europa(even though am not very optimistic about it),but i feel he had the most difficult task of all of them.not only because of the abuses that we give him but also the quality in the dressing room and the changes that happened in terms of style and size.

but the sad thing is that we don't know what rdm could have done in a full season.

Considering he is an interim he sure did ok after a dodgy beginning. We got a CL ticket and are in a final. He also made a great move when he diverted everyones attention with his infamous talk where he talked about being a temp and he will be out of here by the end of the season. That took the pressure off, I believe. Our team started playing better imo.

Still, we just cannot say it is CAUSED by Benitez. All we can claim in all humility is that it correlates with our team performances. So .... He did ok. Mission accomplished. Some of his tactical intervention remain highly suspicious - if he was a player i would see he lacks consistency.

None of that matters anymore. Now its time to build towards a more permanent fundament and regain a new identity with this young talented group of players. We will need a good Skipper for that mission :Goober:
