I want him to stay nut if the club can't afford to buy players of real quality who will elevate Hazards game then we really need to start looking at the bigger picture here. And what is the bigger picture? Replacing him with 3 Drinkwaters or 3 Barkleys? (The irony is that after all the recent results, its Drinkwater that's hankering for a move. Wouldn't mind that actually. Probably means Loftus-Cheek can come back and take his spot) Hazard is the closest we've had to a Zola, Drogba or Lampard. Its pretty much guaranteed that we won't get even one, let alone 3 players of that quality.

If you think I would rather have 3 drinkwaters or 3 Barkleys over Eden then you are not understanding what i am saying at all. I was suggesting that maybe we get in 3 players that will improve the team overall rather than have 1 Elite player such as Hazard. I don't want Eden to go at all. Who would.. but it seems our board feel as if all the time we have Eden in our squad we dont need to worry about the deficencies on other areas. Whether board really feels that way is up for debate, .but I do see your point. Even if that there were indeed the case though, I still think the alternative is far more risky. IMO, I think the board has just been trying to act too clever in the past few windows and the strategy backfired on them. They thought that making someone like Drinkwater play in Chelsea would elevate their game, ala Kante, and that giving up experienced Matic for upcoming but untested Bakayoko would work like a charm. Without a director of football, and champions league lure, we will struggle to attract known players of top caliber. 2 hours ago, Mana said: Lol, last person? Including Kante and Azpi? Nah, strongly disagree. Fair comments, these are subjective things, and I'll admit Kante is one of a kind as well. Azpi, I'll give points for his commitment to the cause. Popular Post! Thor 2,702 Posted April 15, 2018 Popular Post! Share Posted April 15, 2018 He seems to really love the club, but obviously is extremely frustrated with the situation. It is not hard to see why in all honesty. All these years we've had him, and we have never really built around him the way other teams have around their best players.  You can talk about his consistency all you want, for me he is. Hard to look consistent on a team like this, when the team is not catered towards you at all. Ronaldo has it. Messi has it. Even Neymar has it and he only just got to PSG. Get a manager who will play attacking football, allow Hazard to get into space and work magic. He looked brilliant carrying the ball through the park in the middle in the last game. Just at times had no one to pass to or build up with. Alonso is especially useless. Either too deep in attack playing on the shoulder almost as a striker, or he is lagging behind. Not to mention when he does get it, slows it up due to being one footed and unable to beat his man to keep the attack going.  Get him someone decent on that wing to work with, and a manager that wants to push forward and he will look even better. I honestly think Emerson might fit the bill. Pace and engine for days, and great with the ball at his feet. Mufassir08, DDA, Blue Armour and 5 others

No wonder we always feel inferior when compare to the likes of Real, Barcelona, United...Those clubs actually seem to build teams that compliment their best players. Us on the other hand... haven't given Hazard players to link up with.... haven't given Kante a proper midfield partner the whole time.... played Azpi out of position even though he is amazing anywhere. That is why I'm happy to have them. Not to mention this is the first time where we seem incredibly reliant on two or three players. Never got that feeling from our teams before. The club should always be bigger than the players or anyone else but people always seem to place the former below the latter. Mind you, we haven't always had teams that compliment players but has that ever stopped them from actually being grateful to the club? As you pointed out yourself, we haven't given Kante a proper midfield partner or played Azpi out of position and yet, I don't think that has stopped them from being committed to the cause or actually appreciate the fact that they are playing for us. If anything, this should be a two-way street as opposed to just one but people seem keen on making it just that - a one-way street.

Stayed with us for 6 years. Lead us to 2 PL titles and played with an injury for nearly half a season. How has he been ungrateful ? Because he isn't blowing smoke up Chelsea fans arses when asked whether he'll stay or not ? Pff give me a break. Almost all players will do what's best for themselves. Kante can say "Chelsea is my home" as many times as he likes but you can bet at the end of the season he'll be looking at his options aswell. I'll be genuinely suprised if Kante stays here for 6 seasons. The players are what in the end make the club successful. No one is placing the players above the club. At the end of the day, bar the plastic fans, most on here would support the club if we were dead last or in the championship or below. Why should I not be thankful that Hazard chose us when he had the option to go to a number of different clubs. I love my club, but realistically, we aren't the biggest club in the world, and when Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man United, or other big clubs are available to a player, it is nice to see a player choose us. Grateful to the club? Of course they are. They have all become better players here. That doesn't mean there is no room for further progression for a player though. Hazard would undoubtably be better at Barca or Real. Even PSG or City. They are built to support his style of play. How is it not a two way street? How has Hazard not given it his all while here? He has won how many titles with us? Put in how many amazing performances? It is as if you think only the gritty, hard working types give their all and play up to it every time. Hard to play up to it when on days against great opponents, Hazard doesn't sniff the ball because of the way we play. You can't blame a player who has stayed here as long as Hazard has, and him finally becoming frustrated in the way we play. The false 9 performance against City was hard to watch for anyone. Who would enjoy playing in that given your skill set and what you could offer on the pitch with proper support? Nearly 300 games, and nearly 100 goals with us. He is a club legend, regardless of what happens. He is 27 now, and if he is as good as we say he is, he would be an ambitious person. Say what you want, but playing with a run down Cesc, and having Alonso to link up with on your side of the field isn't good enough. Having Moses as someone to link up with when he switches wings isn't great either. Who are we to blame him if he wants to leave and go to a club more suited and more ambitious that actually buys the right players with a vision in mind? Plays with a manager with an attacking vision in mind that wants to maximise his players potential. Yes, you do need players that compliment each other on the field. That is the way you make the most out of everyone on the field. That is the way you capitalise on what you have at your disposal. Making it fit, and doing the best with what you have is nice, and you can get away with it, but we are trying to build a team that can win the champions league here, are we not? That is the goal for a team like Chelsea, right? Having mismatching pieces won't cut it. We gave Drogba, Lampard, Terry that chance back in the day. A balanced team that all fit. We have absolutely not given Azpi, Hazard, Willian and Kante that chance yet. Belgiannutt

But I guess if you want to push it, then is it wrong to feel that Hazard hasn't always been committed to the cause, like this season? He may be grateful to us, sure, but when he's constantly talking about transfer rumors of him moving elsewhere, can you really blame the fans for thinking he's not as committed as he should be or he decides when to turn up and when not? Whatever the flaws the club have right now, constantly hinting a move elsewhere and then not putting in the performances week in week out aren't going to win over many fans.
