David Luiz

Subotic at the very least is better then luiz and luiz's style will suit barca a lot more maybe thats why they are after him.

This is down to opinion, but there is one piece of evidence we can always rely on: market value.

And concerning Market Value, Chelsea paid Benfica 21m pounds for him.

The fact that Luiz' style does not seem to suit Chelsea, and some fans' idea of what a defender should do, worries me. Not for Luiz mind you, but Chelsea and fans. It's as if having a simple robotic (no pun intended) defender is something to aim for, esp a side who's goal is Europe and not a wet pitch at Stoke...

Chelsea didn't pay 21M for Luiz, they paid 21M and Matic who was probably worth around 3-5M. (he's a regular at Benfica and was just given a new contract). Luiz is probably our best central defender (especially with Terry's fitness still in question) but he's not elite and 25M or so for a defender is an enormous fee.

You are right, Benfica confirmed that the total value was indeed 25m (value including Matic worth 4m).

The fact that he can also play in midfield will further increase his market value.

David neads to calm down with the aggression off the ball during games. I like agression but it needs to be controlled aggression. I like the guy and I like his playing style but I dont like the dirty antics. What he did to that Brentfod youngster should have been a red.IMO. And no im not one of these guys that doesnt like contact sports.

Some will say David needs to tone down the aggression but this is what's been missing at the DM position. This is why many were interested in acquiring an Etienne Capoue, a strong, aggressive tackler to break up opponents' build up and put some fear into them. Barca can fuck off even if they offer 30 million. Why do them any favors?

I get what you mean but still you don't want an over-aggressive player in the holding MF player as its easier to pick up bookings and give away needless fouls.

Luiz still imo doesn't read the game as well as he could, still dives in when if he could read the situation, he'd probably not give a foul away or whatever. Still good to have him back, his distribution from CB/DM is impressive. Gives us more options and means we are able to rest Mikel/Lampard/Ramires more frequently.

I loved him today when he was on the ball. Impressive passing range and actually showed some poise and was patient. Didn't panic like he was doing in midfield in his first few games there.

Still get nervous when I see him charging down an opposing player like a freight train, though. It always just looks like he'll just run through a player without being able to stop himself. I cringe every time. That's one thing he needs to work on.

Viera and Keane were some of the most booked and are considered legends by their supporters. Dirty by others. Luiz had nothing to apologize about imo. Chelsea have lost that bruising, tough identity, made famous under Mourinho and it's nice to see someone bring it back.

No-one's going to condone what he did, but isn't it nice to know he's got that bit of nastiness in him? It's something we've missed **cough**Mikel**cough** for so long and I think players need that in their locker, although using it on a lower division kid when we're 4-0 up is unnecessary.

But next time Bale is running at him it might be in the back of his mind.

I love a bit of nastiness in players, especially defensive minded players. You need a bit of grit.
