If the reported £8.5 million deal is completed, it is anticipated De Bruyne will be loaned back to Belgian champions Genk for the rest of the Pro League season.

"Dirk Degraen is in London and the expectation is that it (the transfer of De Bruyne) will be finished this week,'' a Genk spokesman said. "The assumption is that Kevin de Bruyne will be transferred to Chelsea and then will finish the season (on loan) at Genk.''

If De Bruyne is in form like last year, he would be an asset for Chelsea NOW. But currently, he's a bit out of form and at this moment he's not good enough to help Chelsea.

This has many reasons, mainly being Genk's poor performance in the league and him being stressed with all these tranfer speculations. But it doesn't look like Genk is going to have a better second part of the season, so letting him stay at Genk won't help his progression at all. It might hold him back a bit actually.

So if Chelsea does buy him, I think the best option is to transfer him immediately. Genk is much less dependant on De Bruyne this season (compared to last season), so I'm confident that with a bit of extra cash it's possible.

Happy to read that this is actually happening, 8m sounds like what a team would pay for such a player a few years ago when the market wasn't as crazy.

Haven't rersonally seen him play but if he's as good as the most trustworthy of sources claim he'd be of use straight away.

Hamilton who posts regularly is someone who is well versed on Belgium football and is calm in his appraisals.

I just hope we use him when he comes back, not ship him out again..

Read a lot of talk of us doing a 'Courtois' with KDB though, probably to a bigger club (with respect to Genk).

Nothing wrong with having him ready to come in and join the club when the second part of the squad rebuild is complete (it cant be done in one summer).

Sigh.. What's the actual point. Nothing major will happen in summer, gamble on KdB till Jan and if he's finding game times rare then loan him out. Like we did with Josh this season.

why we always sign second rate players, why we can't sign someone who is going to be superstar like Hazard, Neymar, etc..

These players don't just suddenly become superstars, they start at clubs some lower standard clubs and work their way up. Instead of paying stupid amounts of money for them we are doing the smart thing and signing them from the lower standard clubs for a minimal fee. Just because there isn't 18 million results for him on Google or 8000 videos of him on youtube doesn't make him 'second rate'. Judge him when he is in the team and playing, not by his popularity.

Transfer News Central Chelsea reportedly made a 35M bid for Lucas Moura according to the player's agent. 16M for Willian Borges. Kevin De Bruyne almost sealed. Will loan him back to Genk until summer though. Interest in Eden Hazard real and serious. -S

Tell you what, get these players or not I'm loving the player type we're looking at...breath of fresh air

Yes because every signing has to be 25mill quid. or higher. we have FFP rules coming soon and making smart, unique and low risk-high reward purchases are going to be the new Chelsea in the transfer window with some big one's here and there. Look at chicharito, 8 mill and he's one of the best goal scorers in the league. or what about demba ba, he was labeled a 'newcastle-esque' signing and look at how he came out and lastly Romeu was swept away by lukaku's arrival and look at how brilliantly he has turned up for us!! also how do you know how these signings will turn out?

Superstars win matches, but a team wins trophies.

I repeat, you are my idol here. Nobody gives a good eye on the object as much as you and ulsterchelsea do, seriously. Absolutely with what you have said here, I prefer us being smart, not naive.
