Popular Post! Tomo 21,751 Posted July 4, 2019 Popular Post! Share Posted July 4, 2019 For all the talk of lack of managerial experience there's one aspect Lampard is in tune with more than anyone we've had manage us in the Roman era (including Jose) and that's the unique pressure and scrutiny of what being associated to Chelsea brings. As much as i liked Sarri he really, really underestimated that aspect of this club when he first arrived. It's not as simple as he knows the club (if it was that basic we could have just appointed any of the old guard) but i feel a lot of the time under Roman managers had no real experience of the external pressure's of managing Chelsea (Sarri, AVB and to an extent Conte especially) which led to choppy waters whereas Lampard will have no illusions about what's to come on that score something he as good as pointed out in his press conference. Also I've said this a few times but the academy is our golden ticket, we had a quiet season by our standards previously but in the 10's we have been so dominant at that level to an extent not seen since the Busby Babes and we really need to start promoting the cream of that crop and hopefully translate such dominance to first team level, Frank happens to have one of the best qualified for our academy starlets in our coaching setup. The reality is Liverpool and especially City are probably going to be too strong for the next 2 years, we will try to catch them Lampard won't accept nothing less but reality is it's unlikely so lets turn this negative into a positive, build our next generation and make sure we are the one's to pounce when their current cycles slow down a bit. petre.ispirescu, Milan, Superblue and 7 others

Or do they not have weekends on pre-season either From what I read, they were due back on Monday but it got pushed back to give some players additional time off and due to the delayed appointment of Lampard. In any case, they have had a long break by now. Am sure they will work over the weekend to get ready for the first pre-season game next Wednesday. Popular Post! Superblue 6,372 Posted July 4, 2019 Popular Post! Share Posted July 4, 2019 You can't help but feel excited listening to Lampard in his press conference. Ironically given the number of managers he has worked under in his career, I believe the closest of the top tier managers to what Lampard could be like actually is Klopp. I think he'll aim to build a strong harmony and "feel-good" factor within the club and build excellent relationships with his players and I also believe he'll look for his team to press aggressively across the pitch with maximum effort and commitment. The guy is a complete leader and winner. When he talks there is a friendliness and warmth about him, but there is also a hint of conviction and ruthlessness in his words. For example, he talked up the academy and young players but made it fully aware that they must have the talent and application for chances and it won't be handed to them. He uses the perfect mix and its part of the reason he both comes across so well but also so likeable. manpe, Tomo, Fernando and 5 others
Popular Post! Superblue 6,372 Posted July 4, 2019 Popular Post! Share Posted July 4, 2019 One of the things that I really hope he drills into this group too is to not be afraid to shoot. We have plenty of players more than capable of shooting around the edge of the box - Willian, Pedro, Barkley, etc. Too often we try and overplay or struggle to break down a team defending deep. Pizy 19,032
How he sets up the midfield will make or break our season. Don't think he'll have Kante in that more advanced position Sarri had him in. Which means Jorginho's place is up in the air. Atomiswave

I think Jorginho would improve in a midfield 2 and Kante and Kovacic are both best in such a setup. It would also give more flexibility to who plays further forward as you're not just restricted with Barkley or Mount playing the attacking midfield role but the likes of Willian, CHO, Pulisic could all play that '10' role too. Think it will be 4231 with Kante next to Jorginho or 433 witb Kante-Jorginho-RLC as the MF, just Kantes positioning/role will be tweaked. Think dumping/benching Jorginho would be a error. Nobody else in our MF does what he does. Even more so if Frank is wanting to try and continue persist along the same lines as Sarri did. bigbluewillie and Supermonkey92

In standard setup you have 3/4 player staying back. If we want both Jorginho and Kante to sit back. Our rb has to be more offensive. Azpi is not that kind rb. The last time we play 4231 was kinda under jose. But the the two mid were fab and matic. Fabregas is not you typical dpl. He made tons of forward run so you have Matic azpi- Terry - cahill Last year unde Sarri It was Jorgi Rudi - Luiz - azpi Watching Jorginho play, I am not sure he is suited to play further forward. We can try kante - kova. But from last year, kova need a lot work playing that position Atomiswave
