For me, this isn't an oscar vs mata deal. Oscar has proven he is an all around wonderful footballer. But mata has shown that he can CONSISTENTLY provide stats for chelsea. Hazard hasn't. Schurrle hasn't. Torres and eto'o haven't. You can talk about his defensive ability, but we all know that he is so lethal in attack that he makes up for it numbers-wise. Not to mention that even with this more athletic squad Mourinho wants to field, we haven't exactly been a model defensive team. All I can hope is that mata shows how useful he is every chance he gets.

Nonsense, absolute nonsense. Oscar is the Brazil #10 and one of the best young players in world football. It's nothing like Lampard being dropped for MVG.

That means Mata can't play top level football. Everybody in the team is being asked to press and put opponents under pressure. There can not and should not be any exceptions. Even Messi presses opponents and he scores 60 a season. Why should Mata be given a free ride?

A Mourinho team doesn't do luxury players. I'd advise you to get to grips with that fact sooner rather than later, things will be much easier for you if you do.

A good question. Jose has been dealing with players in an arrogant way before. At Real is one good example. He seems to apply the same methods here. If this continues, players like Mata will leave, I feel. Recently, I read about Ba, Chalobah, Josh, Lukaku & Mata, these guys are just about fed up with Chelsea´s way of dealing with them.

It really is an enormous headache.

Oscar has been fantastic at #10 so you can't just outright drop him. People keep saying Jose should just play Mata in the right, but we just spunked 30 million on Willian who's a more natural wide player than Juan is. The absolute perfect scenario is Oscar moving back alongside Ramires in the pivot and bring Mata back in as the #10 but Jose has already fully committed Oscar to that role.

Even if Mata isn't nailed on to start anymore I hope we still see him a lot. I feel really bad for him as he's done nothing to deserve this treatment, but you have to say that Jose's reasoning is justified.

Unfortunately, I think he'll be sold to PSG in January or the summer. Only way I'd be okay with that is if we get Verratti in exchange.

when asked what he expects of mata and how mata can win his trust back, the answer was swift, straight and to the point.

if he so direct with the public, just think exactly how he would talk to the players. everything would be straight from the heart. and each player would be knowing exactly what is expected of him and what he would get.

i feel mata will give his 100%, fight for his place, slug it out and come out of it an even better player.

I think Jose feels we need Oscar in that middle role, so it's down to Mata to learn how to play as a winger (right probably) in a Mourinho system.

I love Juan, I think he's a great guy but it's now down to him to step up and do what Jose wants. Too fucking long we've put 'player power' ahead of sticking with a manager. Jose is the manager, he's the guy we've entrusted we've steering this club in a new direction based on stability and I'm sorry, but if it's a choice between that and Mata then I'd sell Mata tomorrow.
