Not to defend Lukaku here but I do think you tend to see that sort of intensity in pre match drills much more often because usually throughout the week (granted there are no mid week games), the majority of teams will train at a pretty high intensity, then come the game day those sort of drills and exercises are just a warm up and to get a touch of the ball before kick off.

Even bloody Rory Jennings is speaking sense.

Well not that much sense. He seems to have believed prior to kick off that 'Pep played into Lukaku's hands' by dropping Dias, when in fact Pep was trolling him.

Remember when we use to wonder how Hazard could show such little visible frustration when playing with the likes of Willian, Morata and Ramires?

Now it all makes sense, he dealt with a lot worse at national level.

Imagine how many opposition counter attacks this guy would have started if he played for us under Frank.

Here's a stat - Lukaku's Pressure Per 90 stat in the Premier League this season is only 8.24. Only one other outfield player in the team has a lower stat - Silva (6.32). The next attacker in the team with the lowest Pressure Per 90 number is CHO but his is at 15.9.

The only thing that's shocked me is it's that high.

A pretty damning stat.

I never thought differently, and it makes things a little worrying. This whole notion that the club wanted to buy Lukaku without Tuchel's agreement, or that they forced the signing is nonsense. Tuchel said he wanted Lukaku weeks before we even signed him.

If Tuchel is this full tilt with buying a player that was so blatantly obvious never going to work, and continue to forcibly play him in a system even my nan knowns he isn't tailored for, it gives me damaged confidence in Tuchel and how he approaches the market.

This is why i never understood the binary thinking of "they've won X trophy so we should back their judgement in the market", was the same with Conte apparently the 2017 title meant we should have handed him a blank cheque.

Great coaches can be shit in the market and vice versa.

To put this into a little bit of context it's the same amount of touches Gabby Agbonlahor had in one half playing for bottom of the league Villa away to Spurs (when they were good) and he was mocked on Monday Night football.

And wouldn't you just know all off a sudden as soon as he finally got hauled off we started playing like a team again. Pressing and every player involved in the build up.

The worse thing is he's even failing at what he's suppose to be good at (what even I expected he would be fine with). We were told to embrace his flaws because he would make amends with goals. He has a big chance tonight, a big chance against City and big chances in both legs against Spurs and wasted them. That's possibly/probably 5 points he's squandered us, not good enough when he offers next to nothing else.

If he's not taking those chances, what positive are we getting out of him being on the pitch? Please someone tell me what I'm missing here.
